Wastching ASU and WSU (along with Stanford and Oregon, but that was expected) reach the round of 16 in the '23 tournament and watching the games on ESPN+ so far brings to mind two questions:
1. How did UW end up in a recruiting pickle that left the team with so few weapons this year?
2. How are so many of these tournament broadcasts so much better and more compelling that anything we ever saw on the PAC12 network?
(Bonus afterthought question: Can things at UW be turned around for the first B1G season or are we doomed to a second year of missing the tournament?)

It is interesting to see UW incoming players in the past 5 years: 2018 Ella May Powell, Claire Hoffman, Marin Grote, Shannon Crenshaw, Dani Cole 2019 Olivia Mikkelsen, Sophie Summers 2020 Maddie Endsley, Emoni Bush, Maeve Griffin 2021 Lauren Bays, Molly Wilson, Audra Wilmes 2022 Elise Hani, Kate Morin Under par recruiting in several classes, in combination with key injuries and players leaving early left Washington significantly shorthanded for 2023. Significant change in coaching staff also, IMO, had a big impact this season. Next season will be a very challenging one for the Huskies because recruiting is a 2-4 year process. Getting immediate reinforcement through transfer portal is key.

Controversial take, but goal #1 in the portal should be a solid libero of the future and passing help for next year. After that take the best available 6ro OH or grad transfer MB.

I was referring to Sophie. I thought she was just moving on after graduation despite one more season of eligibility. IMO, Kate Morin would have had playing time this past season had she stayed.

Kate would definitely get playing time. She had a Cook family connection and was paying out of state tuition. I believe that after leaving UW she gave up volleyball.

I hope the coaching staff is going after Isabel Martin from UNLV. Hopefully Bibs and she are besties and Bibs has told her how great to play for UW!!!

I saw her name mentioned in the transfer thread along with some pretty good passing stats. FWIW, in our match with UNLV earlier this season she had a match-high 20 kills and .325 hitting percentage. Sounds pretty good so far . . .

I feel like one of the cornerstones of Washington volleyball is being a low drama, low unnecessary attention program. This off season so far has me unsettled.
