This is rich, UW resorting to banned substances to win in the Big next year.

Seems like this is absolutely on target for a UW thread; unless you want to overlook issues of competence.

It's a good question and one we are not used to contemplating. I can't say I've seen any signs of dissension or unhappiness, but I'm just a fan looking from the outside. If anyone does signal their intention to leave, it could be a problem but more likely an opportunity. My prediction is Greeny snatches Bush(strong WSU ties) and maybe Bays who both have strong West Coast ties and probably want to stay in a reformulated PAC. Well Greeny left WSU and neither Bush nor Bays are currently in the portal, so I’d say your prediction is not likely to come true.

Assuming we bring everyone back and Bush is healthy, I’m rather optimistic about this team for 2024. I think we could use some portal help in the passing department - though there aren’t any elite passing OH’s currently in the portal - but other than that, while our middles are young, I think the addition of Hunt next year makes middle depth less of an issue. Washington had flashes of brilliance last year and if Bush can get healthy, that adds another dimension to the Husky attack for next year. What I would really like to see is a strong commitment to either a 5-1 or 6-2. IMO we futzed too much between the two last year. If we want a 6-2 then another setter is a must - but I do think Wilson showed she’s capable of running a 5-1 at a high enough level that we can compete with most teams. If the team stays intact and healthy I think a top 8 finish in the Big 10 is very likely and if we manage to land a strong passing pin, I think we could be as high as 5. I say that without knowing the schedule, but I assume we’ll play the west coast teams all twice and I like the composition of our team more than I do USC (who will actually have to play volleyball and can no longer rely on Fields) and UCLA. Oregon is the biggest question mark as they have talent on the bench but a lot of it is young and unproven. Other than Colyer, they don’t return any meaningful contributors and unless they get portal help they will have to rely on a lot of newbies, including a freshman setter.

This is rich, UW resorting to banned substances to win in the Big next year. What are you even talking about? If you are referring to Tate -she isn’t a “banned substance”, and it’s beyond disgusting to refer to her as such. Also, she isn’t even in the 2024 class, and wouldn’t be with the Washington program next year in the Big 10 anyway. If you are going to be a troll, at least come correct with the facts. 🙄🙄🙄

Exactly! First time in 20 years, what a major let down. And definitely not gonna get any better next year, the year after and so on and so on. UW had 8 seniors graduate last season. Isn't that about what wsu is losing this year? Your next year could look a lot like ours just was. Not even considering the rumors of other schools being interested in Greeny. Not to gloat (okay, a little bit), but I called it.

Do you think she'll take over the reins at setter?

Testosterone can be used in hormonal therapy.

Will a top 8 cut it for a tourney bid? I hope this would be the expectation anyway. BIG barely got 6 in this year and only 2 Pac teams, which made the tourney, are joining the big and both are questionable for worthiness as you point out. And I don't think Endsley, Bush and Wilmes are gonna make anybody forget the likes of Hoffman, Bajema, Drechsel and etc. This will be the 2nd year in a row where the UW is going into a season without a returning all-american caliber type OH. Without the one transfer from last year they easily could have finished at the bottom of the pac and so far UW drawing blanks with transfers. And Molly is no top tier setter nor Hani a top tier blocker, just not the players necessary for a tourney run.

I actually knew Greeny was leaving WSU before any mention of it here on VT. As some like Candle realized I was just posting tea, I thought it was obvious but I guess not. However I still wouldn't rule out any dawgs transferring, there is still time left. And with WSU now playing in the WCC, clarity will go a long ways in determining coaching and recruiting. Playing in a percievably less competitive WCC will be a godsend given their situation.

Posting “tea” would imply that you actually did know something at that time and were letting it be known before anything was officially announced.

Is Madi Endsley coming back? I think we all assume she will. Do we get any official confirmation?
Our recruiting has been awful. We will have 4 open scholarships for 2025 and we only have 1* commit. That's not acceptable.
