Look closer at the primary criteria. 1 significant win. And two significant losses. One loss to the RPI 200 team of Rutgers. RPI of 40. KPI of 54. There’s plenty in the primary criteria to exclude Minnie. There's plenty more to include them, but Fight On, lol

Worse than KState not getting in? I think so. I don't think SFA should gotten in. But there are two ranking systems that are primary criteria and SFA is ranked #36 and #39 in them while Kansas State is #59 and #49. We should hope the committee would go deeper but that's a TWENTY-THREE spot difference in the RPI. I can understand it. From a pure bracketing perspective, #7 Texas should be getting somebody ranked like #58. That's a low major with a zero percent chance of beating Texas. Instead, they give them Texas A&M who is ranked #37 and #28 in RPI and KPI. Just crazy. But that's the thing - if they are so concerned about RPI/KPI - then you give NC State a bid. NC State was better than Stephen F. Austin KPI and close enough in RPI. And, one of them beat a top 5 team, while another beat... Grand Canyon. I didn't like NC State as a selection - but, they didn't *have* to put SFA in. Also: re primary crtieria/K-State: I think 3 Top 25 wins + 6 Top 50 wins is a bigger difference than 23 RPI spots as you mention, don't you? SIX wins has to at least be equal to 23 RPI spots. Then, another primary criteria is common opponents, which Kansas State wins over SFA too.

I just think having Texas open the tournament with A&M is bonkers.

They only played seven matches against teams in the RPI top 100. They were 0-3 against the top 50 and 3-4 against the top 100. Given that, I'm amazed that they have an RPI in the 30s.

But they keep making weird decisions with 4-seeds. A couple years ago, they sent an at-large Ole Miss 4-seed (who wasn't a last 4 in team according to the committee) to Creighton as a 1st-round match, while they sent Northern Colorado (fly-in, 3 seed) to Baylor? This made no sense. Northern Colorado had a worse RPI, no quality wins, and was an AQ, versus Ole Miss with quality wins and an at-large (better RPI). How does that happen?

i get that rpi is a big factor and k state lost quite a few matches early that really hurt them, but in terms of common opponents, k state beat a baylor team that SFA lost to -14, -15, -21 Quite a few? They lost to Nebraska, Rice and Lipscomb in the pre-season. Lippy was not a terrible loss but it was in 5. Lipscomb was not a good loss for them (maybe it could be called one in terms of rpi but in terms of talent, thats a match ksu should win). Cincinnati and Oklahoma are bad losses. Might throw UCF in there too. Take "quite a few" how you want, but a different result in a couple of those makes a difference.

volleyballmag.com/post-ncaa-volleyball-selection-show-zoom-112623/Lee Feinswog and Emily Ehman's Zoom with the committee chair: "They (Kansas State) have some RPI/KPI losses that are over 100 and that's really hard to justify when you're literally splitting hairs" She wasn't aware of an Arizona State facility issue. But maybe it just never came up because they never had them in the Top 16. "In the SFA instance, they've got 29 wins. Sometimes it comes down to did you take care of business against the teams you're supposed to win against. And winning is really hard."

Can we talk about how Penn St. is flying like 1500 miles to play its cupcake Yale, as a non-hosting team? Like WTF? It's crazy. Even when they're not a host, they get cupcakes. Some things never change. Truer words were never spoken 😑

Question do yall like seeding teams 1-8 per section of the bracket or the old way of just having top 16 seeds. I honestly prefer the old way but I wanna see what you guys think I very much prefer the new way, as it lines up with how both of the NCAA Basketball Tourneys are run.

In theory the new way is better... when teams are actually seeded 1-8 appropriately.
