There is more to it than just losing. Dropping sets to non-tournament teams such as Northwestern & Illinois, struggling to beat a winless-in-the-conference Iowa, losing 3-0 to a team they beat just a month prior, passing and defense not playing to the level they played at earlier in the season. I think it is fair to say that the current Nebraska team isn't playing to the same level they started the season. Maybe limping is a harsh term to use but they certainly aren't entering the tournament with the winds at their backs in terms of overall play. I mean, yeah. This team is terrible. Starting four Freshmen, only winning the Big Ten Championship on the second to last weekend of conference play, only beating every team in the conference at least once. Bluh. So bad. That’s not what he was saying-but you know that. Tonight was not a good effort. I don’t know what the Mendelson experiment was about. Didn’t appear Allick or her brother had a good match. Mendelson is not much of a force on either offensively or defensively (which is dissapointing because she was a force during her U18 days) Cook knows what he is doing, but no one else seems to. We had 7 aces tonight, but it may have been the worst serving match of the season-there must have been 25 serves that were nothing more than free balls… Just watched a replay of the Florida-Georgia Tech match-if we give similar effort in that match that we did tonight, we’ll get swept 3-0. And the crowd was incredibly flat-students included…they seemed to cheer louder during the last set of the Mizzou-Delaware match than anything they did during the Nebraska match. I hope tomorrow is better. 🏐 |

Let's hear from Long Island too everyone should watch this. Look at the absolute joy all three have after what was clearly an incredible and once in a lifetime experience. They look like they just won an Olympic gold. I love it, and that’s what it should be all about. In contrast, the Husker press conference seems like a funeral. I think that speaks so much to how expectations impact people, players, coaches and even fans. Thanks for posting this. |

You can tell they had a blast playing in front of such a big crowd and facing such an opponent. There was a bunch of talk about how this team doesn't deserve to be in the tournament because team X or Y is better and didn't make it. I think they absolutely deserved an experience like this. And you can tell how happy the coach is as well that his players were able to be here. Love it! |

They brought a ton of energy and they - like the team - seemed to love the environment. |
