Also, LIU has two campuses—LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post. Prior to 2019, LIU Brooklyn competed in NCAA D1 and LIU Post competed in NCAA D2. In 2019, the two athletic programs unified, and are now just LIU, who compete in the NEC in NCAA D1.

Actually I'd prefer a tournament of 64 D1 teams that would be competitive. If the almighty RPI metric is so fair, apply it within a reasonable range (like nothing over 100, for example) even to conference winners of non-P5 conferences. An RPI of 279 is ridiculous and should not be in the year-end tournament. Develop another tournament for the significantly weaker conferences.
