Utah State has a chance in this one, as they are pesky and defend well, but if Minn blocks well, they will be able to shut them down.

I think that Minnesota has a big advantage at the net over Utah State and will sweep. Utah State was swept by Texas A&M, TCU, and BYU. However, the final set in each of those three matches was very close. I'm curious to see Utah State's 5'8" starting outside hitter.

The Gophers seem to be playing loose and with some joy.
If they can impose their size and strength at the net and avoid the midseason mental lapses they should be able to get by Utah State.
Sometimes it takes a while for a team to come together, but this one definitely can make a run.

Even though there's been some improvement, I'm not convinced Minnesota can pass well enough for 2 games to get out of this sub-regional, much less this game.

However, the final set in each of those three matches was very close. I'm curious to see Utah State's 5'8" starting outside hitter. I think Tatum Stall missed some matches early in the season, but they've gotten better through the year (though this can be said for almost every team, right?). If Stall+Capllonch can score, I think Utah State has a shot here. Minnesota's offense has obviously had some struggles, and I think Utah State can get the ups and transition chances to win, but, we'll see if they can score. |
