I too think MN advances. at the same time, there have been games this season that indicated MN was fully capable of losing this one. hope that doesn't happen and BIG show out the first weekend.

Utah State is making their 6th NCAA tournament appearance. The Aggies are 9-19 (.321) in sets played since their first appearance in 2000. They advanced to the second round in 2000 and 2001.
Minnesota is making their 28th NCAA tournament appearance. The Golden Gophers are 204-120 (.630) in sets played since their first appearance in 1989. They have reached:
Runners Up 1 time -- 2004
Final Four 5 times -- 2003,2009,2015,2016,2019
Elite Eight 3 times -- 2006,2012,2021
Sweet Sixteen 12 times -- 1989,1993,1999,2000,2002,2010,2011,2013,2017,2018,2020-21,2022.

Rewatched the Nebraska match (love the big ten in 60 matches) and highlights from a few matches of Utah State. Minny just plays so much higher above the net compared to Utah State that it'll be tough for them to keep up. Should be a sweep 🤞 but staying true to typical Minnesota fandom, I'm cautiously optimistic for the best while also preparing for the worst

I can't remember watching Gophs play at this venue over the last so many years, has it been a while since they've been in Omaha? It looks like the last time Minnesota played Creighton in Omaha was in 2008. It was one of those early season invitationals. That was at the Civic which no longer exists. The other NCAA matches vs Minnesota per Creighton's media guide were all @ Minnesota. |
