Way to go, Badgers! No repeat of 2002!

I think of Charlie Fuerbringer as an athletic, smaller (5'11), Bergen Reily.
A little more athletic and offensive-minded (a mixture of Hannah Pukis and Nelly Spicer)
I think she can be a Carlini type and just come in and start running the show in August.

Taylor Reineke had a huge match blocking, one of her best in a great career of that, to contain Nana Meriwether with Nellie Spicer setting her in Madison back in the day. If Charlie is like the two setters you mention, good on her and for the Badgers!

If this happens it also mitigates the CC, Devyn, Booth, Smrek logjam at middle and opp. Crawford and Booth both transferred here. I think they realize that Wisconsin is one of those programs where they’re easily able to bring in someone really good that could take their playing time. I hope everyone realizes that Kelly Sheffield is incentivized contractually to win games and go deep in the tourney. He’d love to play everyone, but he can’t. IMO, Crawford might be the odd one out of that group. If Wrobel is hurt/done with volleyball next year, and no one transfers in, I can imagine Robinson playing on the left pin. She could learn to pass if she hits the sand courts over the summer, or just play 3 rotations across the front row. And that’s where Charlie’s skill comes into play, pushing a really good ball all the way out there, very quick. I don’t think there is any way that CC is not on the court in the rotation next year. She’s too important to what the team does. Robinson to left wouldn’t surprise me. Sheffield has said before that she could play 6 rotations. Wrobbel has actually looked really good warming up the last 2 days. Hope she can stay healthy long term. She has a ton of potential. Excited to watch them roll thru rest of this year and then worry about next year. Miami played really scrappy on D tonight and gave us a good test. Next weekend will be fun.

Smrek and Booth made 1st team all conference. Robinson made 2nd. Unless there’s a huge setter name in the transfer that allows us to run a 6-2 seamlessly, that’s just my prediction. This team is somehow deeper than Nebraska.

Robinson to left wouldn’t surprise me. If it’s not looking good for her on the left in spring ball, Devyn sitting or transferring wouldn’t surprise me. ETA: graduating and moving on to pro volleyball or the rest of her life wouldn’t surprise me, especially if the Badgers win it all again. No shade to Robinson is meant in any of this.

Well, not really, because, as we saw, an injury to a starter causes lineup changes that lead to not as good of a performance often, due to the 6-2 being the "normal" lineup.

TTA's offensive performance since the first set of the Nebraska match is not a comforting thing for Badger opponents!

Both teams have epic hitter talent!

What does all this chatter about next year have to do with this match?
Also, of course KPS is incentivized to go deep in the tournament. Every single NCAA coach is so don't make it sound like he has some greedy ulterior motives.

They need to stop setting Anna flat backsets, its hard for her to chase and hit. If she is set in rhythim, she's unstopable. Also her sets should be up and down and higher - I notice when she has time to hit the ball she's more successful.
I wish they would the front X ball to Devyn. She would be unstopabble and she is versatile emnough to do it. MH goes for back 1 - and Devyn comes in out of nowhere...BOOM! and if setters goes out to OH, will def be a 1-on-1.

They also set Anna a lot of balls behind her. We had the perfect angle to see this last night.

Smrek isn’t as agile as the rest of the other 3 middles/opposites, which is fine, she’s 6’9”, I wouldn’t expect her to be. Setting up a slower, higher ball when she’s on her 2nd step is probably the best way to use her. The issue I see is that she often gets short changed with her approach. A lot of setters do this, where they’re too conservative and set the ball 8 feet off the net. Sure, your hitter doesn’t get stuff blocked, but they don’t have the vision to see the block and court beyond. If you lead Smrek in front of the right shoulder, it’s a lot easier for her to work. Again, she’s 6’9”, when you have an advantage like that, you need to change up some things to maximize it. Robinson hitting tandems isn’t the worst idea, we just don’t run quick enough middles.

I agree with you... also I think tandems will need to be used if Bucky plans to make it to Tampa. We need another wrinkle. Sort of like '21 when Demps would come in and hit that in between C/D backrow bic ball.
