In case this got lost: if Baylor wants to pray on the court together after their matches, go for it. I still think it’s virtue signaling (and still not in line with scripture, which I guess is an opinion I’m not allowed to have), but the major issue is the pressuring of the other team to do so with them. And the subsequent media coverage of it. It has nothing to do with being gay. Baylor’s anti-LGBT history and policies, and other bad things Baylor did or does, make the preachiness sting a little extra hard. You already said you don't care what the Bible says so why are you using a text that you don't believe in to prove a point? Either way, that's fine. What are the anti-gay policies that Baylor, the institution, has had or currently has? I'd really like to know.

Well, that would be a bad argument! Why would it be a bad argument to regulate and scrutinize a religious concept like prayer, saying that it is forced upon people when something like Pride Night has literally been shoved down the throats of straight people who are there to watch sports?

Pride Night shoved down throats? Your bigotry is ugly on you, Karen. If being gay is a choice or a religion, I want to stop paying taxes. I want to start declaring war in the name of the rainbow. I nominate RuPope as our leader. And if it is religion, it’s even older than Jesus!

But it's quite true that Pride Night and other LGBTQ ideals are being forced on people so much so that things are being flipped over on its head. Did Pride Nights occur in arenas that only included gay people? Did Pride Night make appearances in sports where only gay people or transgender athletes were allowed to participate? Nothing is older than Jesus. "At the beginning there was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God....The Word became flesh and made His dwelling place among us." That Word is Jesus.

There actually are numerous policies/statements from Baylor in the past that have aligned with Baylor's stance on Biblical marriage. Some things have been changed, such as with the student code of conduct and Baylor chartering an LGBTQ organization, while other things haven't like Baylor's statement regarding human sexuality. Baylor does not have any current policies or conduct codes about being openly gay or trans or anything like that, and I mentioned having faculty members that openly affirmed queer students in their classrooms so things have certainly progressed. But not going to deny that it hasn't historically been that way.

Well, that would be a bad argument! History shows that when censorship is enforced in order to oppress the views of the dominant group, it is the marginalized groups that are impacted the most. It is dangerous to say that Baylor should not have freedom of expression within a volleyball match because that stance will quickly be weaponized against other groups.

How have those policies affected Baylor's gay students? Were there disadvantages that kept Baylor students from completing their education or getting into the programs that they wanted to off of the basis of the sexual orientation? What was your academic experience like?

That respect goes both ways. Something people on this board have a very difficult time with.

You’re trying to compare i being gay to religion. It’s more like race. Don’t you think people would choose the “easier” path if they could??

Obviously neither of you know many college athletes, especially female athletes. They would be disgusted with your point of view. It’s 2023, catch up. It’s offensive and I bet you’re both 50+ and white.

Their fans just want to enjoy the game and not be preached at about how terrible their colleges are. They sure as hell shouldn’t have to defend their school constantly against people who just happen to hate their Christian influence. And about 99.9% of the time, it’s activist like yourself who derail a fun discussion about volleyball into a three ring circus. Again…..Just respect peoples point of view and they will respect yours.

Obviously neither of you know many college athletes, especially female athletes. They would be disgusted with your point of view. It’s 2023, catch up. It’s offensive and I bet you’re both 50+ and white. I am in my 30s and I am a Native Hawaiian mixed with Asian and I come from a background that many would consider oppressed. I am so thankful that I come from the stock of amazing women that I have. My great grandmother, grandmother and mother worked so hard and have taught me that I am loved and accepted by my Heavenly Father, I am no longer a prisoner to the shackles of victimhood that have plagued my people and that I am lucky to live in a country where I walk free and opportunities are abound! I am a former college student, athlete and coach and have been all of my life. Suffice to say, you are preaching to the choir and I'm singing the melody honey. It can be 3023 and right will always be right and wrong will always be wrong. I say this in love and I really do mean it. Jesus loves you and died on the cross for your sins. God shows His love for you because He gave you free will and agency to do as you please even if it means that you walk away from Him. God wants so desperately to be close to you that He gave His Son to die for you so that you might live. You are made in the image of the Creator. That is your true identity that shatters the identities that the world wants you to hold so tightly to which is the color of your skin, your social economic status or your sexual preference. Actually, it makes you one of the crown jewels of His creation! Incredible. Whether you choose to believe it or not there will be a day where "all will stand before the Lord and every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess." Be well wherever you are in the world. ❤️

Your flippant use of the words bigot and bigotry shows me that you don't truly understand what people(s) are actually dangerous. Serious question for you: What are you going to do when the real bigots come after you for your lifestyle? How will you spot a real bigot when you cannot distinguish a bigot from a Christian having a respectful conversation with you on volleyball forum, no less? And I'm not talking about them coming after you with their words. I'm talking about them taking action.

Being gay is not wrong. Being gay is not a "lifestyle."
To continue to argue otherwise, is bigotry.
We've all heard the same regurgitated crap -- "love the sinner, hate the sin" is my personal fave -- that Christians tell themselves to feel better about their underlying discriminatory and unloving views (see: your post above). It's noted that you've resorted to "well others are much worse!", likely because you know you can't explain how your views towards queer people are loving, so you're blame-shifting/relying on a distraction.
This is why young people are leaving the church. Once they learn to think for themselves, they realize what Christians claim is love actually doesn't look like love. And no matter what your pastor tells you, viewing being queer as a sin, isn't loving queer people.
