He's been here a full season. They're his players now. If they transfer, that's on him.

There's a post in the transfer tea threat insinuating that Nnedi Okammor could be a grad transfer. That would be a huge get for the Gophers considering how lacking they are at middle. That's great, but you do occasionally have to set those middles.

That's great, but you do occasionally have to set those middles. Can she hit a slide? Just about everyone knows how to hit a slide, you have to still set your standard quicks to open the pins up. If the opposing middles know they can just move pin to pin all day, they have an easier life.

They're teaching kids to hit slides at age 14 now. I would say the purpose of the slide has been kinda bastardized, but just about all the middles at a D1 level can run em now, to various levels of efficiency.

To be fair, those 3 players would’ve come from the old regime and not players Cook recruited, correct? I don't think that matters. It's not "he's never had a player transfer that he's recruited", I think it's "he's never had a player transfer when he's been a head coach". I think that matters. It is two different things at least that's how I see it.

I’d want word that Stella was going to be setting next season if I was a formidable middle who had done my research and was considering Minnesota. No middle worth a dime wants to transition and jump over and over and over again and bust their butt going from pin to pin to only get set 8 times a match.

I would throw Sarah Morton from Auburn into the mix for the L/DS portal pick up to. She will have 2 years of eligibility left.

What's crazy is that she set Booth more last year, in fewer sets, than Ashburn and MJ have given her at Wisconsin. Like I get that Sarah Franklin exists and she's fun to set, but c'mon.

Perhaps, but I'm not going to fault him for players that leave if they were not players he brought to the program.

I hope everybody stays, but after watching the 2023 season I'm also not going to be sad if anyone leaves.

He's been here a full season. They're his players now. If they transfer, that's on him. Not necessarily. We know that players often go to a program because of the coach and their particular coaching style and leave when that coach is gone. It's possible that some players decided to stay this year but now know they don't "click" with his coaching style and opt to leave. I'm not going to put that on him. None of this year's squad, with the exception of Grote and maybe Murr, came to Minnesota because of Cook. (I could be wrong and I will readily concede that point)

I had a 15s team where we were starting to work slides with our middles. I Even had a 13/14s team that was just learning so well so fast that we started showing them how to do slides too.
