Finally he has said that he did not sub out when he should have last year. As he said to a fault. I think that cost us a final 16.

It sounds like the Swensons will probably redshirt. If that's the plan, I hope that it's made public so we don't have to hear:  when Mel hits a rough patch. The bigger takeaway I had was Keegan discussing how he kept players in the match even when they should have been pulled last year, in an attempt to keep them happy or show trust. I think we forget that, at this level, and with the portal, the coach is proving themselves to the players just as much as vice versa. Now that the team knows him better, and more of the players are "his own," it sounds like he'll have the confidence to make changes during matches. I'll believe it when I see it, but there's really no reason not to mix it up when one player is not executing. If nothing else, make the defense adjust, give them something to think about. The goal of this year has to be to put the pressure on the opponent. Last year, the entire season, the pressure seemed fully on the Gophers' side of the net. The easier schedule should really facilitate that, which was another takeaway I had from the podcast. You could really tell they were "fighting for their lives" the entire non-conference season last year and that mentality carried over into the B1G. They never looked comfortable last year, they never looked like they were having fun. |

Think about having an easier schedule and playing 7 of the top 10 teams in the pre season ranking. Shows what a tough schedule we had last year.

If he purposefully keeps SS on the bench if Shaffmaster is struggling, that's fireable. He should be fired. "Redshirt" is a bollocks concept, in this day and age. You should be planning to go to college and play college athletics for four years. 100% correct |
