In her first two seasons, Wucherer was at her best when attacking the net.
Lol, what does this even mean. Means her front court play was better than her back court play.

Disappointed they didn’t close it out but definitely sensing the addition by subtraction is real.

I think what bothers me the most is that that was MNs match and they should have won. I loved the distribution of the offense, the blocking looked great, but what happened to our offense??

In a 5 set loss to Stanford to start her 5th season with Minnesota, Melani Shaffmaster joined the 4,000 career assists club. With 4,013 assists she ranks 8th in the Gopher record book behind Lindsey Taatjes who had 4,719 assists from 2001-04. http://instagram.com/p/C_ZMjuCsiLh Congrats to Mel! If she stays on pace averaging 1,000ish assists per season, she could move into 6th ahead of Taatjes and Rachel Hartmann (4,925).

It appeared to me, admittedly not a VB expert (but I can watch closely) that way too many of our attack balls went out of bounds. I would like to see that stat. It looked to me that we can go toe to toe with Stanford, but we beat ourselves. All of it fixable, one hopes.

Oh come on now don’t feign surprise lol. I think Harvey had 7 aces. There were some brutal stretches of passing and then some not so bad

So if you put up a mediocre set, but the hitter finds a way to put the ball down ... they still give you an assist in the stat book, right?

If you'd asked me before the match if I'd be OK with the MN losing 13-15 in the fifth to Stanford, I would have said "Yes, definitely."
That said, they should have won in three.
Lots of bright spots and lots to work on.
I'm still really upbeat about the team although I don't expect them to get a set off Texas tomorrow.
I was kind of surprised by how bad Stanford was at times.

Our attack errors were quite low. 6 errors in the first set but only 5 errors in the other 4 sets. In the fourth set where we got crushed 25-13, it wasn’t because of hitting errors. We had 0. The errors piled up in reception. Zeynep was aced 8 times (12 total for the team)

Serve receive happened to the MN offense. I know that. Just didn’t seem like our pins could terminate much at all.

Tough to terminate from the pin when getting double blocked nearly all the time. Because can't run tempo, because our setter is way too inconsistent when trying to do that, and we have zero middle offense.
This will all magically clear up in about a year.
It will be like magic. Everyone on here will standing around looking confused. No possible answer. Nothing will be able to explain it.
