If someone would have told me this team would push Stanford to 5 and beat Texas in 5, I never would have believed them. Let’s stay consistent and take care of business this year!

Apologies to the true fans. I was guessing Texas in 3.
That said, ROCK ON GOPHERS!
Who would've guessed that MN can block pretty much everything and has a great floor defense this year? Not me. I'll admit it.
Should be a fun year.
I can't remember the last time I've described the defense as "scrappy". And that's a huge compliment. They're just plain fun to watch.

Yikes Yikes YikesI don't recall a MN victory over a #1 ever OOPS first over a No. 1 ranked program since Sept. 14, 2019 against then No. 1 Stanford. gophersports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2019/stanford/boxscore/9105Nov. 23, 2016 against then No. 1 Nebraska gophersports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2016/nebraska/boxscore/6888 I don't remember...ever... a signature victory like this I'll reiterate, however, that this win looms the largest, partly because it was unexpected and such a huge rebound from the day before Maybe most impressive: the will and ability to EFFECTIVELY address the weaknesses from the Stanford match. I did not think that MN was capable of passing as they did in the first three sets. It's always been one of our Achilles heels. MN now knows they CAN beat anyone, not just compete. Like Shaff in the postgame interview I don't really have the words. GOPHER PRIDEeven if you are a millennial

Wait did I miss something from the match? Sometimes I tune out the commentators lol. Juice? E. said she brought the juice and called her the "juice man." Then E. corrected herself and called her the "juice woman." I thought, why not just "the juice?"

Wait did I miss something from the match? Sometimes I tune out the commentators lol. Juice? Emily mentioned something about Z bringing the juice and Conner ran with it. Coining the nickname "the juice maker" and referring to it often after that.

What an exceptional night for Melani Shaffmaster. Stat line very impressive.
In general I was sort of shocked how effectively the team turned things around from the service line. Still quite a few errors (McKenna 6 ugh but getting some in and they're good), but for the most part really putting their opponents on their heels.
Such a dramatic shift in team chemistry this year. With the fundamentals of tough serving, disciplined blocking, courageous swinging, and (hopefully) the ability to shore up serve receive a bit, this squad is going to put themselves in a position to win a lot of matches.
Excited for the season!

Shaffmaster, Hanson, Z, Phoebe, and MINATEE brought it tonight! Full team effort but Minatee as a young middle going up against TX and holding her own was the bright spot for me.

The team chemistry this year seems so much happier and healthier than in the past. Seeing the bench having fun and being vocal isn’t something I have experienced in the last few years.
I’m so excited about the potential. Let’s use this momentum!
I would like to see KC utilize Acevedo for a struggling outside. Wucherer took a bit of a slump and I think he should have given Acevedo a try. She would t be redshirting and that’s why she wasn’t put in, right? I understand letting payers play through the errors, but set 4 was… not good… and Wucherer was not it. Don’t get me wrong, she is a baller! I just think KC has depth on the bench that is a disservice to his benched players.
Way to go, Gophe!
