Wait did I miss something from the match? Sometimes I tune out the commentators lol. Juice? Emily mentioned something about Z bringing the juice and Conner ran with it. Coining the nickname "the juice maker" and referring to it often after that. I never use the mute button because I don’t care that much. Apparently the mute button in my brain is really good though because none of this sounds familiar to me. Completely missed that exchange 😂😂

How the 4th set was Shaffmaster’s fault or something ridiculous truly was that the best performance from a setter so far this season? I know it’s early, but she dominated in every aspect. I think Cook needs to give her an even bigger green light too to attack, especially with the relaxed throw rules

First off, I am so happy to see Julia Hanson break loose. I liked her since the beginning of her career when she was seeing more time when Wucherer was injured during their freshmen season. She took a lot of swings and stayed very low error this match while taking big cuts at the ball.
Mel is back and looking very good. She's always been one of the best setters around and I'm happy that fans get to see more of her best so far this season. I was a little concerned about Z heading into he match after she got torched in serve receive by Stanford but what a great turnaround by her!
Some things I want to see is Wookie and Grote developing more shots, or something that they can go to out of system instead of hard and straight into the block. I was encouraged by their play down the stretch with Wookie shaking off set 4 and taking better care of her passing and defensive touches along with Grote pulling out some tips to force Texas to make a read and play.
GO GOPHERS!

The team chemistry this year seems so much happier and healthier than in the past. Seeing the bench having fun and being vocal isn’t something I have experienced in the last few years. I’m so excited about the potential. Let’s use this momentum! I would like to see KC utilize Acevedo for a struggling outside. Wucherer took a bit of a slump and I think he should have given Acevedo a try. She would t be redshirting and that’s why she wasn’t put in, right? I understand letting payers play through the errors, but set 4 was… not good… and Wucherer was not it. Don’t get me wrong, she is a baller! I just think KC has depth on the bench that is a disservice to his benched players. Way to go, Gophe! Even if Acevedo never steps on the court this year, it will count against her 4 years of eligibility since she didn’t play at all last season for Oregon. So no, she’s not on the bench because she’s redshirting. I’m sure we will see her play in some capacity this season. It does appear that Wucherer and Hanson are ahead of her on the depth chart though and that Keegan is letting Grote and Wucherer play through some slumps. I don’t think it would have been unreasonable to give Crowl and/or Acevedo a look tonight. But we won so I guess it doesn’t matter. Go Gophers!! Good mental toughness was on display tonight. Loved seeing the fight particularly after that 4th set.

Congrats, Minny! 🐻 Y’all really made the Longhorns grab their pearls 😂 I appreciate that because I don’t want to see a new Texas thread called “Back-to-Back-to-Back Champions”

Shaffmaster, Hanson, Z, Phoebe, and MINATEE brought it tonight! Full team effort but Minatee as a young middle going up against TX and holding her own was the bright spot for me. Y’all got such a good player and leader in Awoleye! After the fourth set, she gave what looked like a fiery pep talk to the team on the court and really gassed them up for the fifth. Is she one of the captains this year?

I think Cook needs to give her an even bigger green light too to attack, especially with the relaxed throw rules She’s always good for some slightly sticky setter dumps. Particularly when she goes 2 to 2. There was that one though where she was hardly off the floor and kind of running that was like ohhhh 👀 She was so good! She gets criticized for being too all-around good and not enough setter good. But the setting part of her all around looked great tonight. Happy to see the connection on the slide especially.
