Me after this Gopher victory!  if you enjoy majorette dancing, look up J-Settes Kenjanae on youtube. That girl ate leading the team. Swooping bangs and all I know all about it haha! I encountered HBCU dance during my own college career. I was a volleyball player but inside I wanted to be a Hawaiian HBCU dancer haha! AND YES HONEY! Kenjanae ate leading the J-Settes and gave us Fantasia. |

Huge victory for the team.
Majority goes to: defense and bombs away swinging by hitters!
Didn't matter if it was a trap set near the net or if the ball was back near the 10ft line, the hitters swung hard most of the time! I'm talking about sets to the left, of course.
Shaffmaster as always had excellent backsets, for whatever reason. Since day one and never changed, she can do them in her sleep. Grote + Slides = Great success. Ve niiiice.
I admit I skipped over the 4th set, it was getting late here (just finished watching the replay). But in the 2nd or 3rd (don't remember exactly) they tried one regular middle set and it went exactly how that almost always goes. You all cringed like I did.
But, apparently you only need hits from the pins to win a massive match. So be it. (Against the so-called "number 1" team in the nation.)
Lastly, thanks Hanson for giving the Wisconsin "W" sign to the camera after the match. 😂 (Yes, I know she was doing "W" for "win". It's fine.)
Enough.
INCREDIBLE, GUTSY job by the ladies tonight. Every one of them earned this dub. CONGRATS!

Shaffmaster, Hanson, Z, Phoebe, and MINATEE brought it tonight! Full team effort but Minatee as a young middle going up against TX and holding her own was the bright spot for me. Y’all got such a good player and leader in Awoleye! After the fourth set, she gave what looked like a fiery pep talk to the team on the court and really gassed them up for the fifth. Is she one of the captains this year? Maybe? Probably? I hope so. Gophers have never really announced captains with a social media post like the badgers do. I’d guess Mel, Phoebe, and maybe Mckenna as a non-senior? |

One thing I noticed when watching the two matches on a major Television production of the games this weekend: for some damn reason, the announcers always pronounced the names of the players ... using their last names?? ?? ?? Huh?? ?? ??
Must be a respect thing?

truly was that the best performance from a setter so far this season? I know it’s early, but she dominated in every aspect. I think Cook needs to give her an even bigger green light too to attack, especially with the relaxed throw rules Ohhhh you misunderstood me lol. Wait did I miss something from the match? Sometimes I tune out the commentators lol. Juice? E. said she brought the juice and called her the "juice man." Then E. corrected herself and called her the "juice woman." I thought, why not just "the juice?" How about "Minute Maid", with Minute pronounced as "My-newt"? |
