I know JT usually doesn’t post the second match thread in the same week until the first match is over. I just noticed that our match against PSU on Sunday is in B1G+? I think it deserves better than that for a top 15 match up. I may make an exception this week, and post both MN match threads at (nearly) the same time. The reason is that I’m in Hawaii, and while I have my laptop and internet access and everything, the time shift makes everything weirder. (Plus, I may have reduced internet at the end of the week, unless I go down to the hotel’s common area.) I’m hoping to get at least the MN-at-RU thread up tonight (HST, so will prob be early Tuesday CT). We’ll see what I decide for the MN-at-PSU thread.

I hope you are enjoying Hawai'i so far. We just got back from there a few weeks ago.

I'm guessing that every team gets at least 1 BTN game and with 18 teams now instead of 14 this was bound to happen. Or....it's just plain silly.

Guess I should probably sign up for B1G+ for the 6 remaining matches that will only be available there.

Are these numbers correct? Saw it in another post. Our new freshman outside has better passing than the juniors. My partner says DS numbers should be over 2.00.
Minnesota Palabiyik 2.07 / 48.9 gp% on 315 attempts
Thibault 1.89 / 39.3 gp% 145 attempts
Hanson 1.75 / 34.4 gp% on 151 attempts
Wucherer 1.75 / 37 gp% on 173 attempts
Acevedo 1.84 / 39.1 gp% on 115 attempts

It's a good thing our pins have shown some ability to take out the trash this year

Crazy Good Crazy Questionable
Stanford vs SMU Wed night a Stanford sweep even though they made 22 SEs Your team hits .000 in set 1 and barely loses 22-25 Your team hits over .380 in sets 2 & 3 and wins 25-23 and 35-33 Set 3: 35-33. Aside from the unconscionable late service errors on both sides the pin hitters were, by and large, taking no prisoners SMU made 3 SEs one at 33-33 and Stanford made 4 SEs in 'crunch' time Jordyn Harvey who served us off the court had no aces and 4SEs in the match.
My impression: Women's VB has become so much more athletic in the last decade that serves that do not pressure the opponents into poor passes frequently don't score on their serve In set 1 no team led by as many as 3 pts until 23-20 Stanford In set 2 no team led by as many as 3 pts until 24-21 Stanford Stanford came back from 11-16 to tie set 3 at 19s
You glance at the headline, see "sweep" and have no idea how intense this match was.
I mention this mention not because of the multitude of SEs, but because of the importance to take big swings And the importance of varying set tempo and set locations. When setters give their hitters a nice ball it's kill city

Right, I was watching our Lynx heartbreaking loss and went to look how this match had gone and was a bit surprised to see the 32-32 score in set 3 at the time. It was Stanford's fourth closest match, behind wins over Wisconsin, the Gophers and Pepperdine, despite it being a sweep.

Rewatched the Texas/Minnesota match because why not? Something I didn’t notice when watching it live: the gopher fans were loud! Towards the end, I’d be curious if it was our fans alone or a combination of Stanford, Wisconsin, and Minnesota fans?
Just a fun observation!

Watching the Rutgers game. I'm tired of the announcer saying Shaffmaster is one of the best setters in the country. I mean we all know that. .

Just watched the game.
The more and more I see it, I really love Keegan's coaching style. He's truly building a team environment. I think everyone off the bench played today. Seems like he's saying "OK show me what you've got..." and also getting the younger players into game situations.

Unrelated to Gophers '24 but I just saw that Shea Rubright is second in the nation in hitting % at San Diego State with .476?!
NEVER would've seen that coming.
