I don't think anyone wants Wucherer to transfer. A new setter would do the same trick as any change of scenery. With Acevedo and Kinney, PT isn't guaranteed. But she'd be the favorite to start for sure. And with more back row help coming it would put less pressure on Wookie.

100% agreed on the wishes for Wookie to have success here at MN. While her career hasn't lived up to the expectations of a #1 overall recruit, she has been a model Gopher and committed to this team and its success. When things were shaky last year with TL transferring out, Wookie stepped up, spoke positively about the team and IIRC, was involved with recruiting efforts. I believe it is to the benefit of the program if a player like that stays, rather than go elsewhere. Here's hoping for health and success in 2025, Wookie! Completely agree with you! She is a Gopher through and through. She keeps talking about how she always admires Mel being so loyal to the Gopher program through all of these changes. I would be surprised if she will transfer. I do think that a change in setter can do wonder for her and the offseason to get herself back completely healthy. Her and Stella seem to be very close off the court too.

To add too that I would never understand some people here who keep wanting her to transfer out or think that she should transfer. She is exactly the type of kid that we all wish to have to be a part of our program. Success and winning is great but there is so much more than that.

Wasn't Wucherer out part of her Freshman season due to an injury?

Off topic to current conversation
But PVF is doing ‘24 draft rn. Any thoughts on our seniors possibly going pro? Overseas or staying in the states with PVF or LOVB
Edit: announcers have mentioned Lydia as a player PVF is looking at!

Can’t find the posts about the back wrap/heat/massage belt Wookie’s had on, (and this is only tangentially related to Gopher VB), but Best Buy has that Hyperice Venom 2 back belt on Black Friday sale for $50 off (so $199 instead of $249) for anyone interested. (Since I am “of the age” that my back might get thrown out of whack if I happen to breathe wrong…)

Remember when we collectively got the one Gopher fan to delete their account for almost gleefully hoping for a Wucherer transfer after the Creighton match last December? That was fun.
I think we all just want the program to be great and contending for hosting regionals again. I get that. To me, if we lost an athlete and person like Wucherer after she buys in to more coaching from Keegan than she ever got from Hugh, is that really a positive for the program? Like if she got in the portal, do people really think that suddenly makes Minnesota a top destination for a potential improvement at the OH position? Could it be a red flag on the recruiting trail? Just seems like it leaves a little too much room for speculation of "what is going on at Minnesota?" She willingly has stayed two seasons post-Hugh. This is Keegan's team. I don't really buy that we are still transitioning and that that can be an excuse for player unhappiness and movement. That was last year.
I don't look at an injured Wucherer still playing better in the front row than anyone else on the bench and think lost cause. I'd like to think this wouldn't be a point of discussion if she wasn't injured but I guess we'll never know. I don't think the staff even needs to bend over backwards and make promises to keep one player happy. Just support her in getting her healthy. That's a good thing for the whole team and outlook of the program not just her. I really hope she doesn't feel currently or retrospectively by seasons-end that the staff has mismanaged her recovery.
Go Gophers!

What I am finding fascinating since the 2022 season.....we have had a starting OH on the bench this entire time in JH who was not given the nod to start by neither Hugh or KCook until this season. When she did come in for us last season, I believe she out performed any other pin that game and has never looked back.
For seasons 2022 and 2023, we have seen two #1 and one #3 ranked pins start before her along with a RS MB that transferred in. JH is a NATURAL, FOR THIS SPORT, with her gymnastics background. I would say, this coaching staff needs to go out there and find another JH player.
