My hope is that we got 3 coming in….just that the 3 doesn’t want to announce and since it’s transfers, school cannot announce until they enroll in school. We just might have to wait. Could also be we got two and waiting for the 3rd to sign a scholarship agreement then announce all three and shock the world. 😂😂 Last season, Paula was not announced until June 16th so we will have 12 days to see if we can get any announcement before then. Transfers can be announced at any time, they don’t need to be enrolled in school. Unfortunately, the Wahine don’t have anyone from the portal committed yet and are still searching but it’s not looking good… Maybe the coaches are being too picky. The team just need bodies for practices. Offer them a one year scholarship and if they prove they can hang, then renew it for next season. If not, cut them. We cannot be holding on to 3 unused scholarships.

Ok honest question and change of topic,
Wtf is it going to take to get some serious investment the volleyball program at UH? Locker rooms, training facilities, dining halls, etc?
Because no matter how inconsistent the success of the women’s seasons have been, we’re still one of the tops in the nation in fanbase attendance with an actually knowledgeable community.
I really hope the new AD isn’t dropping the ball here because volleyball should be the top priority. We have the potential to be good if invested into, it’s honestly not that hard to have success on the men’s side. Not a ton of competition school wise but plenty of really solid athletes at home and abroad who just want to ball out somewhere fun.
A lot more high maintenance on the women’s side if I’m being completely honest.

I don’t think the staff has found a good strategy for recruiting yet. I think people would want to go to school and live in Hawai’i and play in front of this fan base and UH has decent facilities to add to that. I see other schools out-recruiting us where I think it’s a harder sell but they probably have a better recruiting pitch…

But yes I do believe recruiting could be stepped up considerably. I wonder how daring the coaching staff is being as far as who they make significant advances on. I think there are so many players from top clubs that could be real difference makers but I’m not sure if the coaches only pursue players that reach out on their end or actually work tirelessly and aggressively on the top athletes.

I get we're all bummed we didn't get any transfers... but Hawaii has not been hit big by the transfer portal like other teams have - Power 5 snd mid major. On top of that, Hawaii just brought it a five-player freshmen class with Sylvester and Arquette who, IMO, were likely highly-recruited by real good programs. Reid may also re-classify, but she was another solid recruit. I bet teams like Utah, BYU, etc. were after her.I 100% get the frustration, but we don't have a depleted roster. We have a bunch of players committed this program that seem to truly enjoy being in Hawaii AND like one scholarship to give? Did we really think we'd get that many transfers with one open scholarship. I honestly was shocked when there were talks of more when there wasn't much to give in the first place.

That’s why I was saying I wish our hopes weren’t raised and there likely wouldn’t have been any issues. We have been expecting 3 “New Wahine” and apparently one is “Fan wishfulness being realized”. I just think the cryptic insinuations need to stop for our sake lol. With so much lineup turnover, it’s anxiety inducing to be throwing out maybes like that.

Trinity signed to UC Riverside, so guess we will see her play lol but that’s expected since she has a young child.

Hopefully the youngsters will ramp up quickly and contribute immediately now that the cavalry transfers are nowhere in sight. It is disappointing to see our BWC foes recruiting talent out of the portal while we cannot.

Who are some 2026 being looked at? Hoping for Layli Ostavar. Another undersized outside but an absolute baller and more well rounded backcourt player. Not sure if there are any with “Hawaii ties” out there but I don’t even see that being a sustainable approach to who the program pursues aggressively anymore.

I think just like it is with most schools, once you run out of your conference money the bulk of anything more will have to come from donors.

Robyn is probably not a “salesman”. She is probably 100% honest when she recruits and that could turn off some prospects. Kids nowadays want to be pampered and be looked at as someone special when doing visits. I don’t think she gets hard and grumpy at recruits during their visits but she does make it known that the kids will have to work and work hard in order to be successful.
It will be tough to find fits but I think she will get it done. Not sure who it will be but I’m confident we will get a couple before the season starts. Maybe UH should try Australia or NZ if other places are out of options.

A lot more high maintenance on the women’s side if I’m being completely honest. I heard the women locker rooms are up for upgrades. Not sure exactly when but heard the AD mentioned that it is on the docket. As for the weight room, it was just upgraded a few months ago and now has a nutritional bar in the room so they will be able to reap the benefits of the upgrade there. Probably the best weight room in all of the BW so no excuse there. I don’t think there is any more the administration can to do. It’s up to the players and coaches. We have tv and radio contract to broadcast each and every home game. We get newspaper coverage. Local TV news coverage and community support like the “Sistahood Grindz” where local restaurants will bring in business people from across the state and help feed the players and give them business advices to help them either manage their money or help prepare them for life after volleyball. The volleyball program, both men and women, have received BIG TIME community support. I don’t see any other program(maybe with the exception of a few P4 powerhouses) that offer so much to the student athlete like here. I just think some prospects are just not willing to put in the work. Someone like Tali is not going to be fazed by hard work. She served in the Israeli military so she can handle. The local girls all know of Robyn and how she runs the program. It’s convincing the mainland girls to come aboard and not be intimidated by the words “hard work”.
