I will say, it really helped Hawaii's chances for transfers and future recruits knowing Hawaii made it to the round of 32. Hawaii is one of only 32 teams - and even few non-Power 5 that is able to say that coming out of this past season. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only NCAA tournaments Hawaii missed was 1992 and 1981 (last year of being in AIAW). I'm glad that the broadcasts were recognizing that Hawaii is one of only 4 teams to have 40+ NCAA tournament appearances.
41 out of 43 to be precise (41/ 42 they're eligible for).

I think the more impressive stats is the 30 straight year we have made it. Not too many schools can claim that. That means every single Wahine players in the last 30 years have tasted post season. So if players have achieved a lot at their previous schools but never sniffed post season, UH could be a nice landing spot for them. Grad transfers from big time P5 schools who volleyball teams are not contenders, they should consider Hawaii. The chance of being part of a winning team and going dancing is very likely.

Hawai'i missed 1992 (injury-plagued) and 2020 (Covid season).

Hi all! Here are Hawaii's season-ending passing numbers, courtesy of uofaGRAD (thank you!) The Wahine are losing the services of Wags, Talia and Ham but bring back Tayli, Paula and Tali. Caylen's number is giving tank but hopefully she can beef up her serve receive during the offseason, spring and summer! Wagoner: 2.17 (562 attempts) Edmonds: 2.16 (393 attempts) Ikenaga: 2.15 (302 attempts) Paula G: 2.15 (141 attempts) Ham: 2.14 (191 attempts) Hakas: 2.05 (210 attempts) Alexander: 1.82 (279 attempts) seeing how caylen pulled herself out of that midseason slump to finish strong, i think we can expect her to continue to improve and make some big leaps in her junior year! im expecting some really big things from her

I mentioned this a couple pages back, but there are ways for Hawaii to open up athletic scholarships or other academic scholarships/NIL opportunities for current or new players. I predict 95% of any transfer considering UH would likely be a walk on that will be helped to find those other opportunities for finances. I think the only way Hawaii really leans into their allotted athletic scholarship count is if a top-tier go-to player comes a knocking. But like I said, there are not current indications of any players currently looking into UH to transfer - much less one that would be considered a go-to. Mmmmm Hawaii is already connected to some good talent in the transfer portal Dewwwww tell!

I think the more impressive stats is the 30 straight year we have made it. Not too many schools can claim that. The same 4 schools (Penn State, Nebraska, Stanford, Hawaii) would also have made it at least 30-straight, and probably a few schools more. So I still stay 1 of 4 is more impressive than let's say, 1 of 8. Stanford & Nebraska are ahead of Hawaii by 1 as they made it in 1992. Penn State is ahead of them as they're the only one of the 4 who was in NCAA and not AIAW in 1981.

And how about Tayli improving on her passing from a season ago? I think she finished 2022 passing 1.90 (aye nay!) Tayli and Caylen both battled to reclaim their positions in 2023 and I am proud of them for doing so.

Igiede drafted #7 in the PVL College Draft by the Omaha Supernovas, congrats Amber!
