I hope we can find a decent RS transfer to replace Guersching for next year. Incidentally, Paula is doing well at Miami. Got quality minutes in vs Texas and Indiana. Happy for her but sad for us. The flip side to this is that younger players are having to step up now that Paula is gone. Who knows if this version of Caylen would be coming out if Paula was still here. Stella is also getting a lot of minutes and Tali is playing tough. Hopefully, this strengthens the team for years to come. It's good to see Paula doing well at Miami!

Anyone know if Oregon State is any good? They were tough last year No, they are the worst OOC opponent on the schedule. Leaving the P12 screwed them over.

No, they are the worst OOC opponent on the schedule. Leaving the P12 screwed them over. Oregon State and Washington State are the only 2 that never left the conference I mean they were left behind and forced to join the WCC. Any player good enough to transfer to a P4 school did.

Do you know what year Purser is? She is 2026 and has very impressive highlights for a HS Jr. Stud in the making IMHO. Posted her video on previous post but if you missed it….. Would not be surprised if Purser got onto Robyn’s radar first while Robyn was coaching club, age group and rankings wise, they had to have crossed paths at least once.

Can anyone catch me up on who our future recruits are? I recall Biondi, Purser, Reid and a couple local back row players. Did I miss anyone? I don’t think we have many open spots left so I’m guessing we are done for 2025 with Biondi and Reid(and maybe holding one for a possible transfer). I think Robyn is looking for 2026 more than 2025 since most of the good 2025 players already committed. We could use an experienced transfer pin with size and someone with more than one year….ala Paula Guersching. That would be ideal. Am I missing something? Would we not have 18 possible scholarships to give out if we wanted? So there is decent amount we can still give out if we really wanted to boost the roster significantly?

I was also recently looking at videos of Purser and thought she looked good especially for her age, looking forward to her growth and hopefully she will turn out as Caylen has for us. My hope is that she continues to train at opposite in club because she looks good there, and we need some height at opposite as well especially if Maddie is a good blocker I’d rather her stay at middle with Mili

Yeah I was thinking about that as well, we should bring in a few quality transfers that can help us next year.

So refreshing to go through the thread without hearing from Steve/Laura/wahinefan!

Yea I think there is a really good base off the team this season that’ll hopefully attract competitive players that are interested in playing for UH vs chasing an NIL deal. I know it’s new world in athletics but I would like to think there are still quality athletes out there that just want to grind, work hard, and don’t necessarily need to pomp and circumstance, just other athletes set on a common goal.

They can't give out what doesn't currently exist. Hawai'i WVB is funded for twelve scholarships. There is no authorization or funding in place for more. The House settlement isn't yet approved, and if/when it is, there could be more lawsuits and challenges to implementation. The current settlement proposal doesn't require non-P4 schools to elect roster caps and additional scholarships. The UH AD is on record reflecting on how they might apply it at Hawai'i — fully, partially, or not at all. Partially, would be what some refer to as tiering of sports within the school portfolio. IOW cuts to some programs to free up cash support for others. That or the AD's bended knee to the State and University begging for plus-ups lasting far into the future. It could be months or years before the landscape is settled enough for plans to be drafted, approved, budgets set, tiering of the athletic portfolio, and cash in hand to support University and State approved program changes. The rumor is Even Ohio St., with one of the largest athletic budgets in the country, is worriedly searching for the cash flow to support all the proposed changes.

I admit that my expectations for this year's Wahine team was quite low given the player departures and the reality that nobody was arriving out of the transfer portal. In my book, every noteworthy win is gravy and every match is a battle. My hope is that we continue to show improvement with each match, build confidence and plow thru a very tough NC schedule before BWC time.

The NCAA would allow for 18 but does UH have the money to carry 18? We didn’t even fill out 4th coach’s position, I’m not certain we have money for 5 more? We could partial out scholarships but if we do that, we could lose recruits to schools that would offer them a full scholarship. With recruiting being such cut throat, I don’t see Robyn partialling out scholarships nor carrying a large roster.

Yeah I was thinking about that as well, we should bring in a few quality transfers that can help us next year. Could well be, as Biondi is a MB too, and Purser seems fairly mobile & athletic. At 6’-3”, she reportedly has a standing reach of 8’. Add an average vertical jump and she’s likely at or over 10’-0”. As a jr., she’s also apt to grow and add to her vertical with training. Great potential.
