Hubbert was pre rally scoring .... but notably she made top 10 career assists in just 2-years as the full time starter .... pretty cool. She played under Robyn in 1996, looked pretty bad in 1997, then blossomed in 1998. I believe she may have the single season record for total assist and assist per set, but I could be wrong. Hubbert was a deceptively good setter. And she had the job following Ah-Mow, definitely big shoes to fill!

After missing last Saturday’s contest, Caylen Alexander made an emphatic return to action for Hawai’i to earn a third Big West Offensive Player of the Week nod for the season. The junior put away 42 kills — averaging 5.25 per set — while hitting .405 to lead the Rainbow Wahine to a two-win weekend on the road. With UH down 2-0 at UC San Diego, Alexander took over by going 17 for 24 without an error over the third and fourth sets to help force a fifth and was on the service line during a 7-0 run that gave UH command of the final set. The outside hitter finished with 24 kills and a .372 hitting percentage. On Saturday at Long Beach State, Alexander hit a season-best .452 with 18 kills with 10 digs to notch a ninth double-double of the year in the sweep on ESPNU. Alexander leads The Big West and is third in the country while averaging 5.00 kills per set. A 5.51 points per set average is good for sixth nationally. bigwest.org/news/2024/10/7/hawai-i-duo-alexander-and-lang-and-csubs-giorgiadis-and-lee-earn-big-west-womens-volleyball-weekly-awards.aspxCaylen killin it nationally too, love to see it!

Caylen is AT LEAST a second team AA
If not a first, her hitting percentage is rising everyday, if she can maintain this, itll be .290 - .320 by seasons end
AND get her next year. We truly are one quality DS and Pin away from being SCARY next year

Caylen 2.04 (308) Leyva 2.07 (221) Ikenega 2.31 (220) Stella 2.17 (185) Tali 1.91 (167)
IKENAGA IS EATING
Stella is only passing that high as she passes only in her 3 rotations in the front row, so they are all bound to be 2 or 3s unless its an ACE. but its not as bad as I thought
Caylen is holding her own too
Hakas has improved by .30 from the pepperdine match which is nice to see

To me it was the blocking and bad out of system decisions. She’s decently reliable just having to pass out of of 5 only.

Her passing is not horrendous, its decent based on what shes playing. Agree on her blocking. Its horrific, but she is shorter, but she tends to jump too late, and does not press properly it seems like I hope she can work on that, cause alexander was horrible her freshman year too the out of system thing will come, that I know

Similar build and stature so she can get there if she really locks in. Lol oh trust I remember freshmen year Caylens blocking. That was one of the main reasons why I was not a proponent of her playing rightside. Let’s Go Bows! Keep the momentum going!

Mama also looks like she's in better shape than ever and its showing in increased defensive range and speed! Stella's entire game needs more time to develop but she's definitely getting that on the job training with the thin roster. She actually showed some better blocking moves this past weekend.

Still got a lot of season left, but the Wahine have put together a solid 9-5 season so far and that RPI shows that. Really unfortunate we lost to UCI, but we just gotta hope Hawaii can take care of business and all the non-conference opponents and the top part of the BWC can win (except against Hawaii lol).
Also for those who were critical on the Wahine roster and overall talent, would we have preferred a UCSB kind of season? Both teams lost huge senior classes, but Hawaii is looking real good right now (hoping the LBSU showing was not a fluke) while UCSB has really struggled - with a much larger roster. Had to say that.
Everything hinges on Alexander tho... hope the staff can do proper load management with her, while getting players like Way, Arquette and Mane some time on the pins.
