SMU just beat #1 Pitt. Would that help Hawaiis RPI at all? It can but Hawaii is taking losses in the Big West which has an average RPI of something like 145. In my opinion, the UCI loss buried the SMU win for Hawaii. Any other conference losses continues to shovel dirt on the grave. They need to win the Big West tournament. Agreed and well said. If you have multiple losses in the BW it almost doesn't matter what you've done in the preseason.

Just stepping on the floor with them lowers the RPI lol ðŸ«

I love how wahinefan ‘s predictions about coaching and team health are coming to fruitation. 🎯 Now everyone wants to have an open discussion about staffing lol 💅 Right on wahinefan and raian13 …. 😂 Exactly, if only we had hired a Dan Fisher.. a coach that can actually communicate with his players.. Robyn is better suited as an assistant coach!

Tyla and Monahan are roster fillers IMHO (no offense to them) so that the "A" team has a full team to scrimmage/practice against. Neither one of them had storied careers or any accolades coming in to UH. Monahan only played in 19 matches (11 starts) in 2 years at Div II HPU and Mane was a career NEGATIVE hitter (-.042!) in her two years in JUCO. The main problem right now for this years team is two of our 3 starting pin hitters are hitting for so low of a % (.136 & .158). I don't think many teams would have much success with those stats. I just don't see how that can turn around and get better. Definitely roster fillers. Again, Hawaii needs Caylen to be on if they stand a chance to win meaningful matches. I'm curious to see how this all shakes out. Outside of being Roster fillers they were probably recruited because of their size (2 tallest players on the team I think, at least Monahan, and Tyla is the tallest pin) and the hope that they could be trained well enough to be impact players using that. That they haven’t been able to pan that out falls admittedly on the coaching staff.

You don't - or at least shouldn't be recruiting players of that caliber to the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine PERIOD! They're probably walk-ons...

Mane would have been cut if she tried out for any Dave Shoji team. The fact that she's on the team and is actually getting valuable minutes tells you the state the team is in right now.
Previously, this right side blocking sub role was played by the likes of Kaela Goodman and Kendra Koelsch, who had their share of accolades prior to joining the team. Mane had horrible stats at a low level school.

People, Do Not count on Robyn and her coaching staff hitting the Transfer Portal. Robyn to me, is more interested and spending most of her time coaching her club team, then looking for players in the Transfer Portal. The Wahine Team needs a Head Coach who is 100% dedicated to the Team for 365 days. Not one who will spend most of the off season, coaching her club team, instead of actually going on recruiting trips, whether it is to the continent, or a foreign country for that matter.
A good example of a Head Coach, who is willing to go anywhere to find a player, is the Wahine Basketball Head Coach Laura Beaman. She knows that it is difficult for Hawaii to recruit really good mainland players, so she recruits foreign players. This coming season she has brought in 3 Freshmen, 2 players from New Zealand, and 1 player from Australia. The last time Robyn had more then 1 freshman foreign player on the team is when Coach Ang was her Head Assistant Coach. In a way, would love to see the Hawaii Athletic Department bring back Coach Ang, but this time as the Wahine Team's Head Coach. Or, Robyn needs to beg, plead Coach Ang to come back, as Head Assistant Coach. Thinking along the lines of what the Men's Volleyball Head Coach Charlie Wade has as his Top Assistant Coach in Milan Zarkovic, who has a lot of ties in Europe. Same thing could be said for Coach Ang.

Brooke van sickle, Jolie Rasmussen, Paula G, Bailey Choy, Robyn should use the portal more and we were in the running this year for iane henke, Acevedo etc, we just lost out It’s unfortunate but it is what it is

I am starting to believe Coach Ang had a lot to do with Brooke Van Sickle, Jolie Rasmussen, Amber Igiede, and even Riley Wagoner coming to Hawaii, then Robyn did. Not to mention Hanna Helvig. Cause ever since Coach Ang left, Robyn has not been able to get those kinds of players to play for the Wahine Team.

Robyn needs to use the portal more and she needs to be successful. Robyn was a gigantic fail this past offseason in her portal recruiting but she should still try. She's had success in the past so no reason why she can't in the future. It is what it is BUT we can never have a 13 player roster ever again. PERIOD! For a program with our pedigree that's just not acceptable. IMHO A good mix of veterans (from the portal if need be) and highly regarded high school recruits that you can bring along and coach up is the secret to long-term success. Wahine Volleyball should always be "reloading" EVERY year and should never be "rebuilding".

Seems like the only players they can get are those with ties to Hawaii. What Robyn needs to do is get rid of one of her assistant coaches, bring in an assistant coach from the mainland who is a strong recruiter. How can you recruit top notch mainland, or even European, players when the whole coaching staff is from Hawaii.

At the end of this volleyball season, Robyn needs to let Nick Castello go. Then beg/plead with Coach Ang, to come back, be the Wahine Team's Top Assistant Coach. I firmly believe, with Coach Ang, as the Top Assistant Coach, people will see a big upgrade in recruiting talent.

Cause even that is in question, especially with the brutal mainland trip coming up. Go 0-3 on this coming mainland trip, the BW Tourney becomes a question mark.
