Not against the move to the MWC, but beginning to wonder how long the MWC will allow Hawaii to stay in the Conference having only a High School Football Stadium to play in. There is still no design of a new stadium, and the old stadium is still standing. I heard the Hawaii Athletic Director say today that a new stadium will be built by 2028. Knowing how slowly things move in Hawaii, thinking more like 2032, if at all. Will the MWC stand for that, and if Hawaii is kicked out of the MWC because of this, what will happen to all the other Hawaii sports programs in the MWC. That is my only concern. I blame the state for thinking they need to build an entertainment district instead of just an updated Aloha Stadium. They really Aloha Stadium needs a hotel and shops. Who is going to want to have a hotel stay in that area? In the middle on a neighborhood? It’s just bad planning on their part. There is no way we get a new stadium by 2030 or even 2035.

Undoubtedly, the MW is aware of the situation with the Hawai’i stadium. I think it’s safe to assume that they were satisfied with whatever timeline Hawai’i provided, or they would not have accepted them into the conference.

not really ... there is some validity in Psychopotamus's point ... there was a time earlier in wade's coaching tenure when he struggled to make or missed entirely the post-season conference tournament. let's not forget that the recent run of success for the men's team is just that -- recent. comparing the men's and women's side isn't one-for-one, because the landscapes are different. but (and this again get's to Psychopotamus's point) ... if we would have held wade to a similar criteria for 'retention' that some are urging now for robyn (i.e. firing him for failing to make the post-season) ... wade would not have been around to usher in those recent ncaa titles ... Say it for the people in the back! My how people forget that Charlie produced teams that couldn't even win more than 11 games in the past. Using some of these clowns criteria....he would have been OUSTED a long long time ago! I'm glad they stuck it out and brought in Milan. Yes ma'am! I truly believe that Milan helped elevate the program and complimented Charlie. I think that Robyn needs to find her "Milan" because there is a place for the tough as nails coach and the more diplomatic coach to balance that out.

CNM - I think the difference is in where both programs are headed - one has been trending up and the other trending down, and also you can't compare a team that struggles after losing your star player to injury to a team that's struggling because of players leaving for various reasons and poor recruiting...like I said, dumb comparison... One is trending upward, one is plateauing. Did you even read my post? The whole point is that the Wahine has had the personnel, but they have been hit hard by injuries and transfers. Add to that players opting not to return once they graduate (Rasmussen, Akana, Westerburg). If not for the injuries and transfers I'm pretty sure both programs would be trending upwards. If you disagree feel free to respond with something of substance instead of just calling me names. Thank you.

What's interesting about this site is that people can tell other people to "shut tf up" call you all kinds of names like "crybaby", "jackass", "clown" etc. with nary a warning but the moment you voice your opinion about whether or not the coach needs to go you get a warning... Generic “bad language” is only an issue for those who actively feel like they aren’t susceptible to any criticism. You and others trash the coaching staff and demand firings like a bunch of true Karens(not like our resident VT Karen who is a National treasure). You are not special, there are plenty in other fanbases who are just like you. Poor understanding of managing a program and choose to be intentionally ignorant about challenges the team has faced and would rather oink about firing someone than discuss how to take on these challenges. I swear we are giving way too much energy, myself included, to the worst posters on here. Can we PLEASE discuss something productive? Like how much Hawaii stands to save on travel subsidies and what should take priority as far upgrading our athletic programs and facilities? I’m sure football is probably going to get first hands in the pot but I think going heavy into upgrading locker rooms and court sport practice facilities, maybe the athletes cafeteria should be the primary investment You're so sweet! 😍 Yes, let's talk about something productive. I'm all for these types of conversations about the coaching and what we see but it's better to keep the decorum and argue with information instead of name calling or gotchas/I told you so type of responses. I know it's hard but it's going to help us have good discussions. There are two posters that I see that are divisive and who's comments seem to come from a nasty place (and no their names are not hapaguy , wahinefan or raian13 .) Those two girls I'm mentioning get nay time from me lol Dust honey dust.

Look how long it has taken to build the Rail System, and is that even completed, yet.

No need to get worked up about something (i.e. getting kicked out of the conference) that is still 4-6 years away.

I think MW invited Hawaii because of the immediate need to fill the vancancies left by former schools so they can be eligible for football (FBS)? Idk how it works in football-lingo. If MW kicks Hawaii out of the conference in 4-6 years i don’t think Big West will take them back, lol. But Hawaii made an upgrade joining a new conference, more diversity and their not stuck in CA state. That state is in deep cahoots.

the amount of stupidity is telling. The state is in charge of the stadium build not the university. As far as renderings, not only are there renderings, google it, but there is also one developer bidder, led by Standford Carr. The hui has the funding and the partners in place. What is holding up the process is the state's due diligence process as mandated by law. And as far as the rail project, that is under the C&C of Honolulu not the state, not the university. In a recent interview, the head of the stadium authority stated that they were reviewing the developer's proposal and would be making a recommendation after the necessary review period occurs, again mandated by state building project rules. I would rather have a building that is sound and safe and that takes the appropriate time to build versus being quickly built which may be a problem down the road.

I agree with you on wanting a sound and safe building....but I think the red tape especially in Hawaii is super crazy tbh. Living in the PNW and seeing how things are relatively quicker, more efficient and done on a more timely manner than back at home...still bothers me to a degree.

And look at the all the other cookie cutter PUD and high rise condo developments. The stadium cannot be like that. The cost and time of getting quality materials here will also be a factor. I hope they can find a happy medium between timeliness and quality.

No supply chain and the increased difficulties to fix mistakes if there are any errors. Like a state (or other organization) doesn't usually become like this just to become like this. Like the say, regulations are written in blood.
