We have all that coming in. Chalei Reid (OH), Kahea Moriwaki (L/DS) and Rachel Purser (MB/OPP) The third verbal was Makena Biondi and not Purser. If UH wants a true OPP, they need to get Veronika Petrova and let her grow. Her highlights has her hitting tons of D sets so she has that shot down pretty good already. She’s about 6-1 and has a fairly good reach of 10ft. Has Petrova's game improved that much? Last I saw she was underwhelming

This Kapolei vs Kahuku game is so good Kapolei just beat Kahuku in the 5th by a score of 15-4 In my opinion that game was cracks. I had to leave after the third set because the play was so poor to me. Chalei really needs to get it together as I feel that she has regressed after this past club season. It's like her skills went down a notch and I was seeing this towards the middle of her club season.

She was supposed to be an early enrollee at UH and was forced to go back to HS and play for a coach/teach that ditched her last season. Maybe bad chemistry and bad coaching has hampered her progress. Sometimes even elite level players struggle. 1st team AA Madi Skinner is not having a banner year after having a great year last season so there could be other factors in play when a player struggle.

I think part of it is mental. To me, she seems to be hesitant and passive in everything that she does which is a far cry from her form as a high school sophomore when she caught my eye. As far as high school volleyball, I don't put much on the coaching. The season is short and most (not all) of the coaches are low level. They write the lineups, do some motivational speaking and reap what is sown during the club season by the respective players on their teams.

Given we have much of this season to go, I hope our current team doesn't lose a whole lot to the transfer portal. We have very few pieces in a small roster, but enough of a core to have a much more consistent year next year if everyone returns and we can add some point scorers from the portal along with our recruits coming in.
The hard part is even a Guersching remained until the end the Spring semester and that messed up a lot for our depth. A lot can change even after the Fall portal closes...

My guess is that Reid will enroll early like Leyva did,and get in the work. She should redshirt in my opinion after seeing her this season.

I keep hoping to be convinced.

I keep hoping to be convinced. I liked her approach and how tall she stayed when she would swing when she was a sophomore. She also had effortless power and was traveling the country and training at different universities. She still has those sound hitting techniques but it hasn't really improved much. Her passing is also on and off. I'm hoping to be convinced again lol

What will it take before Hawaii finds a new coach.
I don't have time to find a new program worthy of following.
