Wow... a 5 set loss to Riverside? This team just loves digging themselves in a hole and making drama this season Yup, worst conference loss in program history if you ask me. Injury plagued 1992 season aside, this team is setting records for program lows this season: first loss at home and one of only two losses to Davis in program history, most road losses in program history, most conference losses in program history, and now first loss to Riverside in program history. I can sort of buy the excuse that Hawaii can't keep up with the P5 conferences as an excuse for not being ranked anymore but losing ground in the mediocre Big West? What excuse(s) are the Robyn defenders going to use now? "Dave left the cupboard bare"? Please Craig Angelos for the sake of what's left of this program please fire this coaching staff!

Looking at player stats and many girls seemed to play well, the stat that was bright red was passing. Poor Caylen put in a double double with 30+ kills just to get upset.

She seems to be losing some steam too. Cant' blame her for that though because she is carrying a heavy load - the whole team...

The way this Wahine Volleyball season is turning out could have been determined from the very start of the season, when it was shown that there was a very big drop off between the 1st and 2nd unit. It now seems like the players are deciding when they want to play at a high level and when they do not. The players know when they play at a low level, there still is no player on the bench who can come in and play any better. This situation is on Robyn and her coaching staff, in NOT making sure that the Team had legitimate backup players. In other words, there is no player on the bench to challenge any of the Starting Players. That is the main reason for this roller coaster type of season.
The other thing I have noticed. It seems like the players on this Wahine Team have lost all respect for Robyn and her coaching staff. Watch during time outs, the majority of the players are not paying to Robyn and the coaches. They are either talking with other players, or just looking around the arena. Take notice of this. No way would Dave Shoji allow this to occur. He made sure the players paid total attention to what he is saying during time outs. Also, what I have noticed lately. Players coaching players more then Robyn and her coaching staff is. Like who is running this Wahine Team, the players, or Robyn and her staff.

Like who is running this Wahine Team, the players, or Robyn and her staff. The worst part about this loss is having to hear your speculative, nonsensical ramblings. What is happening now is basically a carbon copy of what happened in 92, only now Hawaii is being hit by transfers and decommits instead of injuries. If you were actually watching back in 92 (which I am starting to seriously doubt because you seem to have no recollection of it) they lost to a lot of teams they "shouldn't" have lost to. I'll venture to say that the coaching staff is doing a better job now than Shoji did back in 92. Why? In 92 volleyball didn't have the huge talent pool it does now. Back then Hawaii had the talent to beat lesser teams even when they weren't playing well. Fast forward to now and even elite teams loaded with top 10 playrers are losing to teams they "shouldn't" lose to (i.e. teams with only one or two fab 50 players. Your "insight" is to tear down committed coaches and athletes with no basis in reality. I for one like Ah Mow for her passion for the program, the players she has been able to bring in and think she is doing a good job in a rebuilding year. What have you contributed to the program other than annoy fans and scare away players all in attempt to make yourself feel smart?Half the posters on here have blocked you and I'm getting tired of trying to reason with your dumb @ss. I believe you're a fan of Hawaii and not a troll, so if that's the case stop posting this stupid sh!t. If I'm wrong and you're going to continue to try to stir the pot with all this speculative garbage someone should permaban you from the boards and the games before you do any actual damage to the program.

The one VERY BIG Difference in what you reference is Injuries vs Transfers. Robyn and staff had time to replace the Transfers and the Decommit player. There was still a lot of players in the Transfer Portal. But Robyn decided to spend the majority of the time coaching Club Volleyball, instead. When injuries occur during the season, there is not much a coach can do. Also, players transferring during that time and now is quite different. From what I can recall, when a player transferred back then, they had to sit out a year before they could actually play on that team, not like it is now, when a player can transfer and automatically play.

I disagree this is nothing like 92. That team was still borderline Top 25 and would have made the tourney if it was 64 teams back then. They didn't have any losses to one of the worst teams in college volleyball. It sucks that 92 gets a lot of hate for being one of the worst teams in program history when they would likely still wipe the floor with a lot of teams that came after them.

People need to understand, the Wahine Team is approximately 6 matches away from ending their season. The young players are no longer young, inexperienced players. The have nearly one season of D1 volleyball under their belt. So Robyn can really no longer use the excuse of this team being so young. If they are still playing like a very young team, then that is on Robyn and her coaching staff.

IMHO you can't prevent injuries. They are a part of sports and they happen. What coaches can control is their program i.e. recruiting and player retention. So IMHO you can't really compare the two. The reality - whether you and the other Robyn defenders like it or not, is that by EVERY metric the program has been declining since Robyn took over and this season's lows (as I pointed out above) really has shined a light on that. There's no "ifs", "ands", or "buts" about it. And one more thing: I was a past VP of a UH Booster Club and past Board Member of the UH Booster Club and the officers of the Booster Club would always tell new incoming coaches that the Booster Club is for "the PROGRAM" and not the coaching staff or any individuals. The Booster Clubs work with the coaches for the betterment of the program but aren't there to be fans of the coaches. That's the same way I feel about Hawaii Wahine Volleyball is that I LOVE the "PROGRAM". Just because someone dislikes the coaching staff doesn't mean they're not a fan or don't love the program. You can still love the program and dislike what a coach is doing to it.
