I can't imagine any of the current players transferring.
I'm exciting to see if Hawaii can pick up any transfers in addition to the five freshmen coming in.
Looks like team culture and personnel is clicking again. And per usual, we're one major impact player away from being a Top 25 team again.
We shall see!

Something clicked towards the end of the season and I believe this can snowball into the program having better finishes. The current crop of returnees with some good to great transfers to go along with the incoming classes that we know of so far sounds like a strong foundation! |

lol yall don’t feel dumb speculating about something that there isn’t any evidence of…? I don’t, I wasn’t the one who mentioned someone transferring in the first place, I was just deducing who I would think if that was the case. Anyway, I don’t wanna get into anything this thread just started lol Understandable, sorry if that came off as an attack. I just think the group is pretty cohesive and the staff actually made a real effort to give everyone equal opportunity to produce. That’s a major plus for the program, you have evidence if you earn your game time in practice, you’ll get it. That’s just not the case at a lot of colleges where coaches tend to force a starting group despite how much it may hurt development |

All that has been missing is an impact Opposite. I think Caylen or Paula could develop into one, but it sure would be nice to find one ready to go. |

I am most concerned about the middles. Not a lot of experience there, although Bamis has been in the program at least,and Hawai'i's situation does not give the new starters much time to get up to speed. Very much hoping the Wahine can do well in the non conference so they don't have to win the Big West Tournament again. I think a 6-2 is also a possibility again, so we will see about that. They don't clearly have the 6 rotation left sides they would need to do that. Hakas, Alexander, and Guersching all played 6 rotations at various points, but their passing was inconsistent. Setter experience and depth and pin depth are clear reasons for optimism.

We lose our main back court--Wagoner-Ham-Edmonds. Leaving only Ikenaga and part-time passers Alexander/Hakas. This is what I'm most concerned about.
To me, Ikenaga is one of the "most hold onto" players on the team. We can't lose one of our main passers, she's good enough to get a better financial deal elsewhere, and we wouldn't just be able to go into the portal to get someone else since her leaving woudn't free up a scholie.

I don't think we need to speculate on players transferring out lol.
If it happens, we'll find out. But until then, no need to.
We'll see if Hawaii can land any transfers this offseason tho!

I think it's only fair that if we can speculate about players coming in, we can speculate about players potentially going out. One probably provides a nice little "hit of dopamine" while the other is a downer. |

I think bachi is applicable if we start talking about other programs and their players who are confirmed in the transfer portal in this Hawaii 2024 thread. Round of 32 was a great finish for this team. Sweet 16 would've been overachieving and the coveted Elite 8 would be in the realm of Robyn for governor, Final Four = Robyn is governor, National Final = Robyn running for president and National Championship = Robyn is POTUS. All jokes aside and to put it in context, only one mid-major is in the Sweet 16: Creighton. I'm in the camp of "let Robyn and her staff get to work and see what they give with these next 2-3 seasons." |
