I think people have addressed the issues in Hakas's game before--not a high contact point and she swings straight down into the block far too often. Similar to McKenna Ross when she first started out. Smaller hitters who hit a heavy ball was used to relying on that as part of their game--but suddenly everyone is longer, taller, and faster--you have to re-invent yourself as a hitter a bit. If you haven't seen that at your level of club (or internationally where Tali is playing), it can take some adjustment period. That said, in her first couple of games, she was with Matias setting--who was not that great at least against CSU when I was watching her--and that was somewhat related to the hitting percentages. Adeymi and Alexander didn't hit as well with Matias setting too. Aka you actually have to start hitting correctly lol

What do we think is the issue with Hakas offensively? We know with Wagoner it was her inability oftentimes to adjust her approach which made it harder for her to adjust to different sets which made her make less than intelligent shots for what one would’ve thought her IQ was. Are there any actual issues people are having with her technique/mechanics/ offensive approach? Because when I finally get to watching the games and it just ends up being her erroring on junk sets like the best of hitters are susceptible to, I’m gonna lose my sh!t on you guys lol Girl you know you can trust me lol Hakas does a crunch when she swings, especially when she wants more power. This started to improve when Hawaii played at UCI.

To put simply, I think she's a good volleyball player that has the potential for more.

Leilani Dobson is in the portal. Should UH go heavy after her? She was here this past season with Northwestern and hopefully she had such a good time, she may want to spend her final year here in Hawaii.
Perfect name to be a Wahine….and we do need a more experienced MB with Maddie probably not ready and only Bamis and Sylvester available.

Wherever she ends up will be her 3rd school since she started her career at BYU.

I do wondered what Leilani is looking for? BYU was winning and she left. Northwestern have good academic and is her home to her and is now in the portal.
Hawaii does have a history of developing MBs into AAs so hope that can convince her to come here and give it one last go. Hawaii also been to post season for like 29 straight years so that is also a plus.
Will probably end up at some high major program but we can always hope.

She's kind of the perfect example of a player would thrive at UH to finish their college career.

We have had a few players who transferred to UH after playing here with the former teams. Olivia Magill with Arizona, BVS, Jolie Rasmussen and I think Kennedi Evans too….though I might be wrong.
Leilani was here in August for the season opener with Northwestern and did pretty well against us. Hope that experience is in the forefront of her mind and will spend her final year here and help UH go to 30 straight postseason appearances.

So do we have reason to believe we have at least one scholarship left?
With Maddie coming in post surgery and likely slated to redshirt her first year, I’ve come around to the idea of going after a one and done transfer middle and having Jacyn and Milli battle for that second middle position

I do wish we could get another pin though. Would be wonderful if Adriana or Malinah can show some potential but I’m not counting on it. Too had Chalei isn’t coming in for 2024. We could use her.

Yea I’m letting that player go at this point. If she ends up somewhere other than Hawaii then oh well. We have pins that can get the job done but still need to see who the go to arm is gonna end up being. Wish we had more pin depth but maybe it’ll be a blessing in disguise that the ones we have will know it’s on them and they step their game up.

Glad to see that some of you are coming around to the idea of an experienced middle transfer. IMHO that's the most immediate need for 2024 - 2025...if we could get a transfer like Magill or better yet a transfer like Heather Bown that would be incredible. Speaking of Magill, I see she's working for NBC now. Good for her.
