Caroline Jurevicius to PSU!! What a phenomenal get by Katie and the staff. I think she will start for PSU from day 1. Glad she finally came to her senses and decided to do her daddy proud.

Her dad was the greatest backup punter in the history of Penn State football. (If you think I'm joking, go check some old depth charts)
Definitely fills a need. Glad to have her.

Congrats on getting Caroline! I hear she has a thunderous right arm and is a damn good athlete. Does she have any competition for the right side job in 2024? This transfer portal new era certainly augments recruiting with surprises pro and con. The Big Ten this year was not a good serving conference based on the final four. The top two teams in 2023 need some major improvements in serve-receive.

Jurevicius is a good kid, with a great family and a hammer of a right arm. I sincerely hope she made the right choice for her. Considering her entire family moved to Lincoln a year ago, I am sure this was a well thought out decision. Good for her.

I might just have to be a part time Penn State fan now because of Carol. Really, really wish it could have worked out in Lincoln, but I understand why she'd look elsewhere. Just no playing time with Merbs at the opposite.
Gonna be fun watching Carol next season. You guys got a good one.

Carlini was astonishing from Day 1. It was great when the two best setters in the nation, Hancock and her, faced off. We can’t expect Izzy Starck to be in that class yet. Give her time to develop.
As for daddy Joe Jurevicius being proud, you may have to think again. He didn’t have the best feelings when he left Hapoy Valley. Joe benched him in a big game for missing class and someone told me he felt it hurt his draft status. When he was introduced prior to a playoff game he had the PA announcer give his high school (and not Penn State as his school). Obviously he didn’t stand in the way of his daughter coming to PSU (not that he could), and I’m guessing his feelings have mellowed, and I’m sure Penn State’s coaches helped smooth the way.
I think Coach Katie has done an incredible job getting us to the Sweet 16 two years in a row, given that the cupboard was almost bare when she arrived. She obviously can recruit the portal, and as the 2025 class is shaping up with the likes of Alexis Ewing, she can also recruit at a high level in the high school ranks. By Katie’s 5th year I believe she will have Penn State at a very high level.

If you look at her announcement post on Instagram, you'll see a comment from her sister. The comment reads something like, "That was an unexpected plot twist." It sounds like Caroline was headed somewhere else and made a sudden and surprising decision to go to Penn State.

Some details from DigNittany's cover on Caroline Jurevicius's Transfer to PSU --
Jurevicius, a member of the 2023 recruiting class, was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal this offseason following her departure from Lincoln. Less than a week ago, Jurevicius was with the Huskers at the Final Four in Tampa, Florida. Now, she’s a Nittany Lion, following in her dad’s footsteps. She has four years of eligibility remaining.
“I am thrilled to welcome Caroline to Penn State and our Nittany Lion family,” Katie Schumacher-Cawley told DigNittanyVolleyball. “She will bring a high level of athleticism and endless energy to Rec Hall every single day that will raise the level of play for everyone in the gym. We know she can’t wait to get started.”
She visited Penn State’s campus Thursday and committed on the spot.

It sounds like Caroline was headed somewhere else and made a sudden and surprising decision to go to Penn State. You may be right. Or, you may be adding one too many twists. She had the ability and a plan to have a three or four impact before Beason signed up. Blocked, she made a great move. Having seen a couple players pout on the side.i es a who.e season, I was impresses with her positive energy supporting the team. Great character, IMO.

By Katie’s 5th year I believe she will have Penn State at a very high level. Historically, guys who had rocky exits with Penn State and Paterno mellowed over time and became some of his biggest supporters later in life when they usually realized he had their best interests in mind or realized he was acting like a father who had to enforce rules with an immature son (amongst other possibilities). I have never heard that Jurevicius has been down on Penn State in the 25-odd years since he left. Also, the players don't choose those NFL player intros; producers do. Players record many takes saying different things.

I already stated this in the transfer tea thread but if you group CJ in with the other 2024 commits this is one of the best classes of athletes PSU has brought in since the 2018 class (Blossom, Hord, Gray, Parker). I think if Izzy Starck can perform, then we could really make some noise next season with Mruzik, Hannah, and CJ at the pins. I think we just need to lock down another solid middle to complement Trammell. So glad to have 4 years of CJ, as we have struggled since the departure of Frantti and Lee (which was 7 years ago now) to find our go to pin hitter, and not have them swing at every single ball (Mruzik and Parker lol). Having CJ should take away some of Mruzik’s swings and allow her to shine even more. I’ll be interested to see what Hannah/Markley will be able to do as well. Sad fact- PSU has actually started a different two outside hitters in every NCAA tournament since 2017. 2017: Frantti, Lee 2018: Leath, Reed 2019: Cathey, Gorrell 2020: Fitzpatrick, Kudryashova 2021: Pritchard, Rollins 2022: Williams, Markley 2023: Mruzik, Hannah If that doesn’t show our absolute inability to recruit high caliber pins since 2017, I don’t know what does. I will say that the last two seasons were a huge step up from 2019-2021… those were definitely the dark ages. Hoping next season will finally be the one where we can have some repeats and excited to see how CJ can contribute to that!

You cannot truly compete for titles without ELITE pin attackers and the addition of CJ gives us that. I will say i think people have underrated just how impactful and how well Cam Hannah played to finish the season. I think her development could be huge for the team next year. Couple that with Mruzik and you have 3 hitters that can score against anyone. I’d love to see KSC go after a middle that can terminate efficiently behind the setter. I felt like that was a real weakness last season, both middles hit well in front of the setter which made our offense really predictable when Mac was front row. I am hope Anjelina spends the offseason working on being a threat from the back row so that it allows the for more scoring options. This staff is putting the right pieces in place, it’s just a matter of getting all of them to produce at the highest level consistently. I’d like to see the staff go after Williams from Kentucky

If they can’t get a middle that can hit behind the setter they can’t DS the right side again this year. Trammell is athletic enough you think they could work on her slide.
