Two MN defectors facing off in the Final 4. It's a little bittersweet, tbh, with it leaning slightly more towards bitter for this MN fan. Lol Glad for Jenna though.
Cheering for the Longhorns (which I didn't think I'd ever say); just goes to show how much I dislike Wisconsin. Horns up, baby! 🤘

I fear for the rotations with Wenaas in the front row. I’ll be curious to see if UW lines up Smrek and Booth against Jenna or Madi. Of course the edge goes to UW but I don’t think you can ever count out a team with Madi and Asjia. I think if both teams play their best possible game they wouldn’t be as far apart as people are making it out to be. But I would agree that it’s more likely that Texas plays a game not up to their best and can’t hang. I’m hoping they continue playing out of their minds and give UW a run for their money and find a way to pull it out.

I think a lot of people are thinking Wisconsin will make quick work of Texas and tbh I think it'll be a lot closer than what people think. I could easily see this going 5. Texas serving imo has gotten better and the defense has stepped up when we really need it most, I think this team plays better knowing they are the underdog I mean no one really thought we would beat Stanford and to be honest when our blocking is locked in early and is getting touches on swings it'll be really easy for Swindle to run the offense as she pleases. My key factor is gonna be Phillips and Barnes. If Phillips can continue to thread the needle and be something Booth and Crawford have to respect it'll help Asjia and Madi. As far as Barnes if she can continue her tough serving and backrow pickups in the longer rallies this team has proven they can win those. My only prayer is that Wennas does not try and hit sharp cross every swing because if that is the case she is going to get EATEN UP. If she can tool more because that block facing her is big then we will have a good night.

I think Sheff's usual MO is to mitigate the scoring by the big guns and give up a few more points from other players. Here's the Ducks' stats from last night:
* 15COLYER,MIMI 20 12 66 .121 * 11 LEWIS,MORGAN 11 5 30 .200 * 9 PUKIS,HANNAH 9 2 17 .412 * 8 GONZALES,GABBY 8 4 28 .143 * 17 MCGHEE,KARA 8 2 14 .429
* 42 BACON,KARSON 8 3 19 .263
I think your big gun will get the big block, but Sheff can be unpredictable, e.g., Orzol to libero.

I do think that they'll match up booth with skinner, but Madi knows how to score if anything. She might be slowed down early but I do not think that'll last the whole match

Not to rub salt in the wound, but Nebraska also has somewhat of a defector in Choboy. Just out of curiosity, was the exodus largely due to Hugh leaving as coach, or were there other things going on? +1

It'll be up to Texas to flip it for the first set if they want to.

Choboy decommitted because Hugh was leaving. Booth left because she "wanted to win a national championship". Wenaas left partially because she didn't have a role as an OH anymore at MN, partially to be closer to home, and partially because her closest friends all graduated and were moving on from the program. I'm not sure if both Booth and Wenaas both would have left if Hugh hadn't resigned. There may be more to each story too, that's just as much as I know.

Texas vs. Stanford was kind of tough to cheer for either team and can't really see cheering for any of the teams that have won before in the Final Four. H2P, I guess.

Booth left because she "wanted to win a national championship". Sheffield had recruited booth pretty hard, but she chose Minnesota. The story that’s been told here is that she largely chose MN because of Hugh and would have otherwise stayed.
