In fact, I'll enjoy three things: 1) the Longhorn win; 2) the Husker loss; 3) the John Cook crybaby tears. We Meaning small and petty people who have never competed at a high level in their life. I’ve stood next to her, I’d put her at like 5’4”ish Asjia gives her grief for being one of the short girls who “take” tall guys from the tall girls lol |

Nebraska's presser going on right now:
Some of Cook's comments are a little petty imo. Coming after O'Neal for training in the national team gym and using her 6th year (when he also went to work to try to use Caffey for a 7th year...). He also makes comments about Texas's use of the portal when he himself picked up some of the biggest names in the portal: Beason and Hord. It's not a good look. Coupled w/ the circulating stories of the way he treated Akana and Caffey, it makes it hard to root for Nebraska when Cook is at the helm. Stark difference from when Kelly Shielfield had a similar press conference the other night. Sheff was class all the way. Very complimentary to Texas. |

I’d say if your a coach at a top team and you are not actively trying to better your team with the portal you are hurting your team and not doing your job. Agreed. I think transfers will decrease after Covid years are done but the portal is here to stay, so coaches either need to accept it and use it or not comment on it. Say what you want about the portal but overall it benefits the student athletes and their mental health. Student athletes don’t want to be beaten down or mistreated by coaches and it’s way easier to leave if you’re not happy with how a coach treats you or runs a program. Players don’t want to be told to suck it up when it comes to mental health anymore. Yes players will use the portal for other reasons but Overall I think it will increase student athlete well being in a way that is not talked about often. There are not many people on this board who have played D1 or any level of ncaa womens volleyball, but as a former D1 women’s athlete I can speak to how challenging it is mentally, physically, and emotionally. Players want coaches to recognize it and don’t want to “tough it out” the way they used to be told to. The portal holds coaches and programs accountable in a way they never have been before. Either treat your players right or they will leave🤷♀️ See Canadian universities where players can leave but have to sit a year … the power still rests with the programs |

I was just going to say, what are the odds on JE getting a red card and he just got one... What happens if the team gets another card? Is it just straight to red? I don't know if anyone answered this, but the cards are not awarded to the team, they're awarded to a specific person. The first yellow card actually went to an assistant coach who was trying to talk to the ref, and that's not allowed. JE got a red card because he was being rude and using inappropriate language at the ref. If JE got a second red card in the same set, he would be ejected. |

Cook really shouldn’t go there. At all. He’s had transfers in to help Nebraska since Kelsey Robinson came from Tennessee her senior year. yea I really dont get it krob, pollmiller, Malloy, Holman, sun, caffey, hord, and beason have all held starting roles over the last decade. he also had Mac podraza scheduled to visit less than a year ago from today lol. its almost like he has selective thinking ? Lol I really don't feel like getting into an argument over this and have no interest in trying to shade Texas right now after their well deserved win. But you just named as many transfers in the last 10 years as Texas has had over the past 2 years (Barnes, Wenaas, Caffey, Bergmark, Akana, Skinner, Fleck, Ewert). I would assume the condensed nature is what one would take issue with. Again, not saying that's right and honestly at this point who gives af, Cook can feel like he's being a purist if he wants to see it that way but that doesn't take away Texas' natty and magically send the trophy to Lincoln. |

Totally agree. Yes, it's a huge change from the past, but it's here and every program has access to it. The portal, extra Covid years, NIL etc. Get over it. I get that some people don't like it and I might even agree with some points made against these things. But being able to take advantage of things that are available doesn't somehow qualify or diminish achievements such as championships. I also guess Cook forgot that perhaps his best player transferred in this year. |

Those of you saying players from the losing team should not have to be there… STOP IT. Part of being an athlete is to accept losses even when you are embarrassed.. put your big girl pants on and give credit where credit is due. Texas out played you. As far as Cook and O’Neil doing USA.. if he had an athlete that was doing that he would not apologize. He would puff out his chest and say something like “When you come to Nebraska those opportunities are there” As far as the portal.. he needs to keep quiet. As has been said he has used the portal as well. How does a team combat a team that has the #1 recruiting class.. go build a team in the portal.. totally legal and ethical. Nebraska’s freshman setter played on the senior national team this summer in the VNLs. She may have set O’Neal a match. 😀 Can’t be mad about it or comment on it like it’s an exception just when it happens for the team that beat you. Nebraska player had the same opportunity. |
