Anyone know the stats or how well our players did? Did Devyn or Anna played 6ro considering the limited players on the roster at this time with the new recruits not coming early yet plus Saige and CC's injuries leaving us with 7 fit players.

All of it was much the same as last week. No Damrow, CC went through full warm-ups but didn't play. Smrek and Booth were the middles, with Booth serving. Everyone else was six-rotation. Carly was OK, not great, but good enough. Northern Iowa is good - they played at the Field House last year vs Miami in the first round of the NCAAs. I don't know any stats, but the Milwaukee Journal guy was there, so he'll have a story up by the morning. The ceiling was low, such that there were maybe a dozen balls that hit the cross-beams. Some came down 'clean' and playable, some deflected to where players couldn't react in time, and a couple went over the net, meaning point lost for that team. One ball, a bump by Wisconsin, passed right through the diagonals of the cross-beam without touching and whoever it came down to put it away for the kill.

I am hoping UNI had players available, as they have just had a nightmare with injuries the past few seasons!

From memory on the numbers, #9 Fallert was particularly impressive hitting on the left, and #15 Dykstra and #2 Hartman has some really good swings. Maybe 12 or so players dressed and available?

According to Mark Stewart in The Milwaukee Journal, The Badgers will now take some time off to focus on academics. The team will return after Memorial Day to begin summer weight training. Charlie, Morgan Van Wie and Malie Chen are expected to join the team at that time. If things work out according to Sheff's plan, we'll see a new outside hitter from the portal as well.

Also from the Stewart article: WI Hit .474 as a team. Dev 13 kills /.706, 1 hitting error; Franklin (13 kills, .571) Smrek (seven kills, .455) and Booth (four kills, .429).
Somehow Northern Iowa was playing it's 11th scrimmage - so not bad for a WI squad barely scraping together a roster.

Returning to the conversation about our starting setter for the upcoming season, I remember reading/hearing that Kelly informed Carlini upon her arrival that she would need to earn her starting position. Carlini's response was a confident "bring it on" or something to that effect. Dennis Punzel's book. Roughly pages 84-87 Everyone here should read this book.

Anyone have any more information about the “Week 0” AVCA tournament match to be added to the fall schedule? I am dying to know!

How is Carly been?
Is she an upgrade or a downgrade on both Izzy and MJ? I think she'll be serviceable at best and we've had decent hitting percentage despite sub optimal sets at times especially for Anna.
Some folks here call her mediocre so what does she lack that some of our other top setters have? Is she slower, a liability on the block, is her placement not as clean or consistent and is her defence average? I'm curious.
I think we're better running a 5-1 with Charlie with CC unfortunately sitting out and being depth should the likes of Anna, Devyn and Carter get injured.
