Anyone else want Orzol to stay at L? I know we have nonexistent OH depth, but I think she really blows the other libero candidates out of the water. I wasn't at the Bradley match, so I guess it'll depend on how legit TSC is and if any of the new DSes can surprise me. But I think the position switch last season was such a good move for Orzol and I wanted this season to watch her blossom into a truly elite L Personally I don't. Last year it made sense as TTA was a better OH than Oz and Kelly wanted Oz on the floor. Kudos to Oz for stepping up and she did great! This year it doesn't really make sense given our lack of depth at OH and I think Oz is a better overall OH than TSC. We also have more viable candidates for libero this year with Saige being healthy (hopefully) and Lola and Maile available.

How are you making this statement?

How are you making this statement? I'm just assuming as with most incoming Ls that it'll take a bit before they adjust to the college game. But like I said, I'm sure they could surprise me. Julia was our greatest asset in the back row last season and it'll take a lot of skill to surpass her!

I guess I'm not entirely following the need to have her pass 6 rotations as a libero when she'll be passing 5 or 6 as an OH. I think you're underestimating the talent coming in.

I think Julia is a better libero than outside. Thinking in terms of wins above replacement (WAR) from baseball, I would expect Julia to have a higher WAR compared to the average libero than compared to the average outside. So if we had more depth at outside (like if Una were healthy to start the season) I would rather see Julia at libero and rely on the new outsides to step up. But with our current depth, I think we need Julia at outside. I hope you're right that the new liberos/DSs perform above expectations, and I also understand wanting Julia at libero.

I just like watching her in her capacity as a back row player and less so up at the net. Just my own preferences. I'm not trying to diss the incoming class---just emphasizing how talented Julia is

I think it comes down to who is the better attacker. I am excited to see how TSC performs.

I still remember how funny I found it when Kelly rolled out Julia at libero to start the season last year. No one saw it coming and we were all like yeah, this is just an experiment for fun for a bit. Can't wait to see all the things he has in store and where it gets us to this year!

Some people had been arguing for that option for an entire season - or an off season after the Pitt match. It didn't exactly surprise us!

Charlie is setting absolutely phenomenally. It’s like we’re seeing the future, her setting at LA 2028
