I am convinced that Kelly sheffield is only using the 2 libero rule cause he’s still afraid of benching GG because it did not benefit them in any way gg’s long leash has always been strange to me. the things she does well are serve and 2nd contact but those are like ….. nowhere near the most important functions of a libero. and not that her second contact isn’t spectacular. but i think have gg as a serving sub/at most a ds and let’s see if saige can get more into rhythm as the sole libero on the court. to me solid SR is a way better investment than 2nd contact 😶

Passing wasn't the issue. We didn't have connections because they're only a few weeks into practicing. That's to be expected. I would love to see the passing stats because I thought Damrow was clearly better than GG. Like not even close to GG's form from last year. Odd, I thought Saige did well in SR (to be expected) and had a couple great digs, but GG was far better on everything else Saige's second contacts were nowhere near GG's, and GG was making some incredible saves. I haven't seen stats yet, and I'm known to not always be right, but I was thinking, maybe put GG back in the L, and have Saige and Lola shore her up as DSes, and if we have to hide GG in SR, well, we hide her. having to hide your libero in SR tho is just objectively crazy 😭😭😭

If for no other reason - and there are other good reasons - you need GG on the court and serving.

how in the actual !!!!###$$$!!! was Trinity Shadd-Ceres on the court for all 4 sets? 2K and -.067 is pathetic. I don't care if she's a frosh. She should have been subbed out. that was atrocious. Who would you replace her with? Orzol so she can hurt her ankle more and be out all season? Una who’s recrivering from an ack tear and arrived a few days ago? She was the only option, she passed well and held it together blocking. Was obviously the highest level game she’s ever played by far but she stepped up and did her best

No, I don't know passing 'scores', etc.

After sleeping on it, I love the gutsy scheduling moves by the staff - new setter with funky connections, position shifts, 2 lib system, new backcourt players, and injuries galore. Let's get these ladies battle-tested.

Three All-conference caliber middles, but shaky depth at OH. A freshman setter who will nevertheless probably be in the mix for conference setter of the year. Arguably the best libero on the team is actually an OH. Another libero struggles in serve-receive. One of the best passers on the team lead the universe in kills last year. Buckle up, I think it will be a wild ride!

Buckle up, I think it will be a wild ride! A "stat" I just love, which I hope is relevant here: During the 2021 14 week-long regular season, Wisconsin used 14 different starting lineups. Sheffield experiments, and usually figures things out. It just might take a while.

Some telling remarks by Sheff: Referring to Louisville: " Great program, great coaches, tough-minded kids, great fan base. Did I do enough recruiting for them?” “Pretty sloppy on our end,” he said. “ We’ve got a lot of things to clean up.” “I thought Louisville did a much better job of closing out sets than we did,” Sheffield said. “We have to be better than that. They’ve got a lot of firepower and they were able to get on the ball quick. Their middles beat our middles a lot at the point of attack. That’s a good team. One of the things I like about their team is their fighting spirit. Both outsides, their (libero) have fighting spirits. Their middles are tough and gritty and you’ve got to match that or you’re going to get hammered.”"The worst of it came in the second set with the Badgers had eight service errors to help fuel the Cardinals’ reversal of the match. Wisconsin volleyball. Sheffield made no attempt to disguise his disappointment with that phase of the game." “It’s one thing to want to do something but you’ve got to earn the right to be confident in game situations,” he said. “Clearly, we’re not there. Quite honestly, we’ve got to have more players that are taking that part of the game more seriously in practice. These guys don’t hear me call them out very much in press conferences. I can’t remember the last time we did that. Right now, I’m not sure I’ve got six players that are confident in that area, to go back there and put pressure (on the opponent). Hope is not a strategy"Who will step up against Texas?

Huh. Sheff seems to think the Libero platoon was good.

I think we need to ditch the 2-libero system & have Saige take the L jersey simply because she is better at SR than GG. Saige still needs to put work in on her serve receive, but being pulled from the game every other point is tough for back row players especially. Hurts the feel of the game. Also, GG would be more effective for 3 rotations as DS than she is going on & off as a defensive libero. Lola continue to play back row for Smrek & hope our passing starts to gel as the season progresses.

I feel this, I can’t imagine going in and out every few points, can’t get into any rhythm or work through any mistakes. I say for the next few games pick one and stick with it

Just wanna say some of yall are being a little hard on Charlie imo, I was there for both matches and she was the best setter at the entire showcase lol. She is gonna cause a lot of trouble for opponents this year and is a massive setting upgrade for you all
