Is there a Badger recruiting thread? If not, is there interest for one? That way those who want to talk about the future are able to that convo Someone started one, but I think the collective WI VT fanbase said they didn’t want two threads. Interesting. Seems more often than not some posters shut down convos about our future team. A separate chat would mitigate this.

Absolutely agree—landing a player from the portal with college experience would be ideal. Historically, our transfer portal track record is great, but losing out on Taylor Landfair taught us not to get our hopes up and put all our eggs in one basket. I wonder if she ever thinks about us… and what it would have been like to wear badger red and white. lol What did you think of Horner’s highlights? She has beautiful hands. It seems somewhat possible we run a 6-2 w/ Charlie & Horner. It all comes down to how the talent shakes out I have this vision of Charlie and Horner on the court at the same time. They could be co setters/RS players. Both of them attacked and set in High School....Charlies beach career gave her a lot of reps as an attacker. Charlie could be the main setter, but on balls that Charlie has to dig, Horner could set the ball and Charlie could transition to the RS as a hitting option. It would really confuse the defense. I am sure I am thinking about this too much, though. ;P I've thought of this too but I highly doubt that's where it would go.

A separate chat would mitigate this. We like to be different. 😂 But in all seriousness, it's been tried, and we are just fine with having it all in one place.

What I thought was a brace on Damrow's knee over the weekend is some sort of heating device, or maybe a TENS kind of thing.
She would have it on while on the sideline, then take it off to sub in as DS, then back on when she came back out.
So that's at least better than a brace.

To look on the bright side, things are looking up from a week ago. The Badgers seem to have found some clarity in the back row, are back to .500, Orzol had a big match, and they now have the week off at home they can desperately use!

As of now we only have 14 players on the 2025 roster, with 4 players committed to 2026. So it stands to reason we’ll look to get 2 grad transfers for 2025, probably at OH and RS. Anyway back to 2024 and the championship campaign! Is there a Badger recruiting thread? If not, is there interest for one? That way those who want to talk about the future are able to have that convo. Many programs have separate threads for recruiting. Say the word and I’ll make one I thought somebody made one. Because this forum's search function stinks the thread is buried unless one has the patience to scroll page by page until found. The best bet is to save the url of a thread as a bookmark for quick retrieval.

For some totally unnecessary passing stats from UWM match (def won't be doing this for every match).
Lola: 2.07 on 15 attempts, 66.7% good pass Orzol: 1.83/6, 50% (her lone weak spot this match as she was excellent in all other phases) Frank: 2.75/4, 100% GG: 2.5/8, 87.5% Saige: 2/4, 50%
Small sample size for sure.
Also Lola dig stats: 16 digs and I actually counted 18 "dig opportunities" meaning she actually got the ball up in her zone almost always. Also her in system percentage on digs was 75%. Tbf, these were not the most challenging digs for a D1 libero, A lot of her digs were off good block touches which made her job much easier.

If next Wednesday the 18th, you are craving more live volleyball, why not make the drive to Oshkosh and see UW Oshkosh play Whitewater, and try to set the Div III attendance record of 3053. Its free and they are ranked 6th.

We need more of em. I want the Ls job to be easier. I thought GGs passing was unusually good last night. Some of those were on tough serves. Good to see those numbers.

We need more of em. I want the Ls job to be easier. I thought GGs passing was unusually good last night. Some of those were on tough serves. Good to see those numbers. Oh yeah good block touches is a staple of overall good blocking. And much like serve receive, a Libero must convert good block touches into in system chances, which Lola did last night. I just mean to say that UWM didn't exactly offer the most intimidating or creative hitters. I think GG does better in DS role then serve side only libero role because it helps her establish a better rhythm within the game. In theory, the 2 libero system of a receive libero and a defensive libero makes sense, but its really hard for a player to establish continuity on the court. The most important aspect of a libero's job is to read the hitters/servers and when you are constantly going in and out, that can actually be a bit harder. Meanwhile, its clear Lola is just a more consistent player who doesn't get rattled easily. We can all remember games where GG would have a string of bad plays in a row after getting aced. Lola tends to follow up receive errors with perfect passes, like she just wants to get back out there and touch the ball again. I do think technique wise, Saige looks the best. But passing technique is very overrated. Orzol in general has some unorthodox techniques in how she does everything for instance. That all being said, we need a libero who consistently puts up 2.3+ games. I feel confident in Orzol and Frank passing around 2.1 to 2.2 which is all that is needed from 6 rotation OHs. I think Frank has really settled into being a solid passer with a lower ceiling but a high floor. Like doesn't have has many perfect passes, but she tends to be very consistent in giving her setter a good ball.

Love how Sheff was so taken by that Orzol phrase. She is so much in command these days.
Sheff makes the good point that the badgers got rather few gift points from Milwaukee.
Sounds like Stewart is still covering the team.
Thought it was funny that Punzel brought up the cheerleaders (Who I didn't notice at all even watching on TV). Sounds like Sheff had no idea they would be there.
