Also does anyone have passing stats for the last few games? I'm most curious to see the breakdown of who is getting served the most. Last night they went after batenhorst hard and made me realize the stregnth of our passing is no major weak links. are any of them lexi or mauch? No, but Orzol is probably the best passer and not the first offesnive weapon so serving her and taking out that option is only so effective, Schumacher is solid and the libero so you're not taking anyone out of the offense. So I'd usually serve Franklin if I was serving just to try to remove her from the offense, but she is also a good passer. Curious what teams approaches has been. At the UW schedule page, they post two different "box scores" for each match. The pdf box score has the number of serve "receptions" and "errors" listed. It has nothing regarding the 3-point scoring of those service receptions. But you can see, for example, that last night USC sent the serve at Schumacher 15 times (two errors), Frank 13 (1 error) and Orzol 12 (no errors). UW served Batenhorst 23 times (three errors), Faumuina and Trubint 11 times each (one and zero) and a scattering of others.

Lola and Chuck trending in a wonderful direction. I love how they've both taken charge at the service line. Carly's serve has been great lately too, I really like her as a serving sub.

I suspect what we'll see in the post season is teams picking on Frank, not because she's a bad passer but just to wear her down and hope that she's less terminal in sets 4 and 5. I could see picking on Lola too being a freshman in a big moment, but one of Lola's strengths is she seems to have a very short memory.

Punzel - Charlie comes home:
Fuerbringer, the freshman setter for the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, received a hero’s welcome before, during and after the No. 6 Badgers’ convincing sweep of No. 23 Southern Cal 25-18, 25-19, 25-12. From scoring an ace on her match opening serve until security personnel finally started shooing people out long after the end of the match, Fuerbringer’s fans got what they came to see.
And she appreciated their presence more than she could say, although she made the rounds from group to group, touching bases with many of the people who helped shape her volleyball career while growing up just down the road in Hermosa Beach and playing at her parents’ Mizuno Long Beach club.
“It was so sweet,” Fuerbringer said. “I feel so grateful. It was an unreal experience to get back home and see all the girls that I’ve coached at my club, all of the girls that grew up kind of idolizing me as I went through my club experience. Just seeing them watching me in college and being so excited to see me was so awesome. It was a great feeling. My heart is so full.”
In addition to the club crowd, her old high school friends and a couple of friends who attend USC, Fuerbringer was especially moved by the presence of all of her former coaches and she made a point to talking with each of them.
“All of my old coaches were here,” she said. “It was so awesome to see them because they were the people who brought me to where I am today. Literally, just seeing everyone who got me to this point was so cool.”

I already had the spreadsheet set up to do "B1G matches", I just hadn't posted those, but I will now. Sideout percents by server for B1G matches (lower number the better) Charlie: 0.450 Orzol: 0.500 GG: 0.547 Franklin: 0.529 Schumacher: 0.477 CC: 0.551 Devyn: 0.636 Smrek: none Chan: 1.00 Carly: 0.468 Van Wie: none Damrow: 0.615 Booth: 0.500 Lola and Chuck trending in a wonderful direction. I love how they've both taken charge at the service line. The future is bright!

archive.is/fX8ugThe article Dennis wrote regarding last night's match. Interesting comment that it's basically standard procedure for all Big Ten teams to get motorcycle escort to the game site due to the potential for traffic problems. Not to be critical of last year's setters, but one must admit that Charlie is a huge upgrade.

Let's just enjoy what we have in the present.

Sarah Pavan said on her podcast that the huskers served Franklin and Orzol up to 20 then served Schumaker. Schumaker was not good when she finally had to recieve. PSU served Schumaker all game and she got in a groove and did well.
