what does he say? I am video challenged at the moment. Pretty much that he believes this senior class may be his last class that can go far and win it all. If you actually watch the actual press conference that this clip is snipped from, that is not what he was saying in the slightest. Like at all. He was talking about that there are, in his opinion, 15 or 16 teams that could legitimately make the final four this season. The "we may never be there again" is a reference to the number of teams in that position. That quote has no context about the Badgers specifically. The relevant part is at 4:00 of the press conference.

A short video clip featuring Kelly talking about this senior class and the potential for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. He also makes a rather alarming [?], stunning [?], provocative [?] comment about the future. You can decide for yourself:
what does he say? I am video challenged at the moment. He talks about the potential for this year and goes on to say "We may never be there again quite honestly [deep tun into the NCAA Tournament], which is how the landscape of sports is changing ..." He then returns to this years seniors.
I went to the TV stations website [Fox La Crosse] but I don't find a longer version of a video including these comments.

Yeah coach misspoke a little bit. He said "as deep of a team" and he meant "as deep of a collection of teams". I interpret that to mean the current landscape of NCAA athletics tilts the scales toward the rich getting richer, rather than the comparitive parity we have now.

Regarding the Sheffield comments on the video the 'we may never be there again' comment refers to the sport having 16 teams competing for a final four. Then he segued into talking about his own team in the next sentence saying we once again about setting up a difficult schedule. I can see where some may have thought otherwise Sheffield didn't transition very well between thoughts or 'concepts' of thoughts.

Also, did I hear right that the news caster person refers to Kelly as the team's "manager"? Probably not the best journalism folks.

This was posted a few days ago I believe with the same interpretation. At the tie, listening to the entire presser I took it the same as others here today, it's the total of 15 ~ 16 teams making a run to the final four. Typically it's usually 4~8 that seem to have a legitimate chance. Not sure how or why he would say that about his own team, especially with the recruits coming in the next two years. Typical media taking words out of context.

"Wisconsin Volleyball's Head Coach Kelly Sheffield says his team has what it takes to make a deep run in the postseason, but added an ominous warning about the program's future. "
What a click bait lmao.

Anything to build off from tonight? Charlie's still too erratic, Orzol not giving indication she'll be a force in the front row once we were to get to the Final 16/8 teams come tournament time.
I think we should stick with CC and Dev in the middle going forward to help perfect Charlies connect with Dev for the stretch run. We need a facet of our offense to be lethal besides Frank so we can topple the Nebraska's and Pitts. If we stick with the 3 woman middle we're just not gonna get to the Finl Four.

Honestly, I thought Charlie had some really good connections tonight, and the problem was more lack of disruption on the serve and the defensive issues caused by that.

Orzol's a crafty player but you can't tip your way to a national championship. CC's faster to the outside and more consistent offensively. Charlie's better when the passing is better. Let's cross our fingers Schumacher and GG are back at it full time for the tourney.

In a PSA, Orzol is still hitting 40 points better than she did in 2021, when the Badgers won a national championship with her at L2.
