That's what Minn was doing with Lohman and the Tapp sisters in 2016. What is the advantage for the 2024 UW team? Unless I'm not seeing it, it doesn't solve the problem that one of Devyn/Smrek/CC/Booth doesn't get on the court, does it? And you still sub the libero for two of them, and DS for the third, right? So no particular difference in terms of sub count? So what's the advantage? Yea it worked well with that 2016 Minnesota team because the tapps were versatile enough to play those two spots. It won’t help get anyone new on the court though for Wisconsin, they’ll have to sit one of those four if they run a 5-1. I could see Booth being the full time middle and then Smrek and Devyn playing the middle/rightside position. I think CC is on the bench behind those other 3. But what's the advantage? As much as they had Smrek and CC "crossing" one another, etc, this year, I don't see much difference or advantage to it.

Smrek bowled me out for a duck and scored another quadruple century.

Because of Landfair's desire to play as a 6ro OH and Sheff and co being honest that she will only play 3ro as the OH2 since Frank is NPOY, she put a line though us. There seems to be a strong chance that she will likely play for Nebraska unless Cook doesn't rate her highly and prefers Batenhorst and Krause and also may have said something similar Sheff and co said to her. But it seems that Cook rates her higher than Batenhorst and Krause, if that's the case then you can damn be sure she's gone to Nebraska. As I already said with Wrobel being behind either Julia or the OH transfer for the OH2 spot, she's already very likely gone but honestly I hope we don't go after another OH such as Batenhorst or Krause (or any OH for that matter) and have Julia play that OH2 role since she would be perfect as a 6ro player who's an elite OH passer and defender since she's also good at blocking too, she may not be as terminal as someone like Ella or TTA but she's pretty solid as a hitter. I wonder if Julia can take back row swings too? What we really need is an gun Libero from the portal (who's that player I'm not sure though) who's elite in passing AND serve receive which the team got undone by against Texas. We could also go after another reliable DS as well with Sage being injury prone and that Reed is leaving. Bringing in a “gun” libero from the portal may make sense, but it's crucial to also recognize the potential of incoming talents and nurture them within the team. Keep in mind that we have Lola and Maile joining us in 2024 and Kristen Simon joining in 2025. Developing the skills of these littles will address the team's needs in passing and serve receive for years to come. Fingers crossed that Saige has fully recovered, I can’t imagine the mental toll of being a D1 athlete with a game-pausing injury Ideally this Libero should be a graduate player from a contending D1 college who's on their last year of eligibility but we are in win now mode especially since that Devyn and Sarah are on their last year via COVID extension. I don't think Anna and Julia have the COVID eligibility extension because the Badgers played more than 50% of their fixtures in 2021 so it will be their year as well. Also they would have to compete against each other during practices to prove who will be the starting Libero which will help push each other get better. It will greatly help with Lola and Maile and Sage's development since she can help with their game for the future with her experience at D1 level. Hopefully Sage can stay injury free other she may need to medically retire.

Does anyone know, or is able to find, the academic requirements by Nebraska for TL? Are they the same as WI or are they able to accept her We have no reason to believe that WI can't accept her, just that if she transfers before getting her undergrad diploma she'd likely have to do another semester of undergrad credits.
If we're talking residency requirement, NE will have a similar rule. Scroll down on this page to the "Residency" section

Why are we remaining obsessed with TL’s academics? She is by all visible metrics a good student. Her degree may or may not be plug-and-play at this point - with us or elsewhere. That is not the issue. The issue is that she does not want to be a Badger. Period.
Let’s move on.

I think the issue is whether she doesn’t want to be a badger if she can’t be a badger for ancillary reasons. Some people were really invested. But you are right. That is the past. Time to look forward. I’m interested in how the team will set up. Still intrigued by the idea of Robinson from the BR. Depends on how the new BR players perform. Alternatively, Shadd-Ceres with her superior athleticism could also contribute there, especially if she can pass reasonably.

In the NCAA Championship broadcasts, the commentators mentioned that Skinner at one time played opposite. I wrote at the outset that Robinson was originally a middle. I don’t think she’ll become an outside. I'm not saying she didn't...but she also played outside BEFORE KY moved her to opposite. It's. Because she was playing as a freshman with her sister and another professional-caliber outside. 🙄 In other words, she was an outside most of her career up until that point. Robinson was always a middle. You don't just pick up outside skills as a middle. I'll be hanging up this call now. Point taken about Skinner in high school. Next time just say that, and omit the passive-aggressive emojis and commentary.

Alternatively, Shadd-Ceres with her superior athleticism could also contribute there, especially if she can pass reasonably. The last Punzel article allowed Kelly to cover a lot of ground as he discussed 2024. I thought he gave us a bit of a hint here:
Another option could be freshman Trinity Shadd-Ceres, the gifted athlete from Kitchener, Ontario. But that could be rushing things a bit.
“We just won’t know until she gets here,” Sheffield said. “I love her talent and her potential, but this will be a big jump coming here. But she’s got some ability. She can do some things that will allow her at some point to play the game at a very high level. It’s just when does that happen? I’m excited about getting her here.”

I know the TayLa conversation is played out, but it’s related to Wrobel.
Toward the end of the season, a poster claimed that an OH transfer prospect was back-channeling her interest and would be a Badger; I’m assuming this was Landfair after both Londot and Terry confirmed their returns. I would guess this is when Wrobel knew that she’d be searching for an easier path to playing time.
Given Orzol’s growth as L and her backcourt leadership, she has been and will be the leading L candidate, leaving Wrobel and Shadd-Ceres. Even though Sheff says Orzol would be before Wrobel, it’s clear the staff was prioritizing the portal or expected Landfair to commit. OR, the staff is hoping GG, Saige, Lola, or Maile show enough promise that Orzol moves back to OH2.
I’m curious to know what happened. Is it really Nebraska’s leg up in NIL? Was it UW’s grad program? Was JC like “The fook if she ends up at Wisconsin?” It seemed like a pretty big shoe-in that Taylor was gonna commit. To me, it’s actually kind of funny that TayLa snubbed us again, but wishing her the best as a Husker.
ETA: I fully trust this staff. Will be exciting to see what happens between now and June.
