? They already signed their NLIs, I don't think there were any worries they weren't going to come. Now for the 2025s, getting a bit worried about Wardlow seeing how desperate Nebraska is suddenly for a MB and Wardlow is right in their backyard. Hopefully she stays loyal to the program who offered her first. As long as there’s a clear path to playing time here, it shouldn’t be hard to point out how Cook’s been directly recruiting over his current roster with incoming transfers. How Cook is approaching the transfer portal is going to bite him in the ass down in the near future. TTA coming in over Julia. Ella Wrobel not making it onto the floor. There’s not a reason to believe the portal wouldn’t be used at either school.

I think we are in this space where no program can claim not to be recruiting from the portal.

Sheff has said we want to bring in a setter from the portal.
I anticipate that if the right OH enters the portal during the May window, we will make a play for her as well, simply for depth. We are lean on the left pin.
I will edit this to add that I do not see an OH coming in as Sheff recruiting over Oz. This past year has demonstrated that she will be on the court, one way or another. He'll be recruiting someone to push her, yes, but if she gets pushed anywhere it will be to libero.

So I think he will.

If we need to, we can go into a season with that number and this roster. But it's still a low number.

I'd like to see more sophomores and juniors - after 2024, the only upperclassmen we'll have on the roster will be Saige, Carter, and GG.

There's also tremendous opportunities at UW. I've seen her say something to the affect of one of the reasons for coming to Wisconsin was the greatness the coaches see in her, which I took as an implication that others hadn't given her that sentiment. Plus with the recent article talking about how she's becoming more versatile as a player, I believe she'll have as much opportunity at UW, if not more. Make the run John. I don't think you have a chance.

For 2025, we definitely need more pin hitters. Fortunately there is still plenty of time to get them. All of the other positions look good. Anyway we have a great shot at the championship in 2024, and 2025 might end-up being a “transition year”, much like 2022 was (and even then we finished #5).

Honestly, 2022 was still a year we had final four aspirations going into the year. I don't think those aspirations will realistically exist in 2025; it's going to be about giving 2-3 young pins, a young middle and some L/DS's the opportunity to step up and step into a starting role and/or leading role for 2026 and 2027. As long as we make it out of the sub-regional and have some promising youngsters step up, I think 2025 will be a success; Elite Eight will be our ceiling. My hope is that our 2025 compares favorably to 2017. There is a chance we get a couple high-profile transfers for 2025 but really I'm content to give the young pins a chance to step up, and see who out of Wardlow and Serafinowska is ready to be a force in the middle. If we get an OH transfer who has two years remaining (like Landfair would have been) that's okay because it still leaves two pin positions open, but if it's not someone who helps 2024 then I'm not that interested; another bingo on the pin would be just as nice for 2025.

I agree, obviously with the portal you will never have a perfect idea of what your roster is going to look like multiple years down the line but to be competitive with high level programs in 2025 would be a huge success. I don't know whether we're still recruiting any 2025s, but I do think that you need at least one more pin, probably two, for the 2025 roster, and I think it would probably be better served to have at least one veteran who can help Quest and Shadd-Ceres develop. If they can contribute to 2024 and get in the building that's all for the better, but if we take a grad transfer pin this spring and have to double dip again next year I'm fine with that as well.

For the pins in 2025 it seems like we would have Shadd-Ceres, Quest, and Horner (assuming she joins as an RS). We need three more to have a full complement. We could find a 2024 high school recruit at the last second, although I don’t know of any big names that are uncommitted. For 2025, all of the big names have verbally committed except Kaci Demaria. Of course there’s the portal. Maybe Harper Murray will be ready for a change, having been beaten by Wisconsin many times by then.
