It's going to take a lot of skill and work ethic to make up for being 5'9" :/ Not wrong at all and I see your point. From a setter, I'd rather see 5'9" with really good setting, ability to set a block, and the discipline to go low and over rather than 6' setter that can't better the ball and just reaches high on the block. The two hypotheticals aren't mutually exclusive and parts of that can be trained, but that's where I'm coming from. Eg.: I loved Loberg from the moment she stepped on the court from an offensive perspective, but even standing at 6'3", her first year blocking was ROUGH. Totally understand, but unless she's got some JGill hops, hitters are just going to go over her block, whether it's set low and over properly or not. Mind you, I'm hoping she does jump out of the gym!

Not a surprise that Ally Batenhorst in the transfer portal from Nebraska. Unlikely she would come to Wisconsin, but she is an OH with a fair amount of experience.

Because Orzol is better than her, in literally every single skill you'd need from an OH, except maybe blocking because I'm too lazy to look up Batenhorst's blocking numbers.

I didn’t see where she said she wants to continue to play beach, but I can imagine so, and if that’s a hard requirement, then Wisconsin won’t be the place. However, she definitely can get a Master’s degree at Wisconsin.

I assume she'd go to Creighton unless they don't have her Master's program. Why would Wisconsin want her? Experience & depth. I'm not suggesting she's the best option, just an option.

Or maybe Ally did do well at NE beach (no idea, but am curious). I'm just thinking if beach is a requirement it'd rule out some schools where she might otherwise be a good fit for indoor. So harder to meet all 3 of her requirements, in other words. It'll be interesting to see where she lands.

I think she’d be great here. She, Smrek and Franklin could just dominate other teams out of system. Worst case scenario you have a really solid backup who’s played in multiple national championship games on the left. But I think she could excel here.

Who was the Husker player who originated "the dungeon" label? Was it Krause? Madi Kubik? Batenhorst?

She’s a career .180 hitter…we don’t need OOS scoring when we already have Smrek and Franklin to toss the ball up to, that’s one more outlet than most teams usually have. What we need is passing to make things easier for our freshman setter and for us to feed our many AA weapons, and Batenhorst isn’t exactly a stellar passer. I’m confused on exactly what does Wisconsin have that Nebraska doesn’t that would make her “excel” here when she has struggled for 3 years as a starter at Nebraska, outside of that one fluke match against Texas 3 years ago,
