Man as a Nebraska fan I feel like I’ve lived an entire lifetime in just the last week lol. Some high highs some low lows and some major side eye at times. The drama of all the transfers is just too much and as a fan in small town CA I have no one to discuss this with. At this point Coach Cook + Jerrit Elliot should contact Netflix And have a reality show revolving around NE + TX volleyball .. the storylines write themselves. While I am joking.. it would most definitely be a bit and grow the sport even more!
Anyway at this point I’m just hoping there are no more curveballs. I am a Coach Cook Stan but I do feel like we are gonna need the portal to have a little more depth next season. After Krause injury this season we just have to be prepared! But GBR ALWAYS!
Also just wanted to add I have been a longtime lurker and sporadic commenter or poster it just wanted to say I enjoy reading all ya’lls comments, insight, tea, criticism, etc. So happy I stumbled upon Volleytalk one random evening! ❤️

That Husker volleyball loss on Sunday felt like the failed 2 point conversion in the 1983 Orange Bowl. That was very very painful as a Husker fan. At least the good part out of the volleyball loss is that all the players are going to return. The football loss began the string of bowl losses to Florida teams that were quite painful until the 90s. i rather think this VB loss was much more like the 1993 football season ending when NU lost to FSU to deny NU a Natty. Painful to Husker nation. NU responded by winning 3 Natty’s in the next 4 years. Let’s hope this 2023 VB loss is more like 1993 than 83.

Is Boesiger in the portal? Her tik tok makes it seem like she is leaving NE.

Let’s cool it calling players personal names. She didn’t like Cook as have many players in the past, and many players haven’t liked their coach for whatever reason since beginning of time. You going off against Kayla Caffey stating that she felt loved at Texas is a positive thing and it’s great she found a good fit. Same with Lexi Sun, it appeared she has more happy at Nebraska than Texas. That’s not exactly what she said. How about we let each player stand behind what they say. And when they behave badly let’s call it what it is. Do you think coddling players does any good? Do you think excusing bad behavior is a positive thing? I don’t. I don't know of anyone "coddling" players. I just see a sad old man taking pot shots at a young person whose experience he knows NOTHING about. Good for you for making sure they get their comeuppance!!

I'm doing a bad job at staying away. Portal got too active everywhere. Still gonna try to not let it all consume me lol. It's been a rough few days on top of losing Ames a little while back. Need some good news. Heard some inklings but hopefully something concrete in our near future. Momentum feels not on our side right now. (Yes, dramatic for a National Runner Up 33-2 team. I acknowledge this). Like others, I'm glad to se you back, jwvolley! Completely understand the need to get some space, I still haven't waded through the match thread for the final.
Sorry to see this new thread devolving into snark, but hoping to see the trolls and instigators get bored and move on soon.

Just gonna say it here too because I coincidentally ended up at the same hotel as the team and spent a significant amount of time speaking with the Murray family and seeing the team interact. Harper WAS DEVASTATED, As I am sure they all were. And instead of getting to go home, she got thrown up on a stage and asked questions within minutes of one of the toughest moments of her volleyball career. After that they returned to a hotel full of people who wanted autographs and pictures despite her own family and teammates families waiting to spend time with their children who they knew were HURTING. I did not see Harper, or a single Husker, turn down any fan requests for pictures or autographs despite it probably being the last thing they wanted to do. Lastly, after being gone for a week after a grueling season and heart breaking end, they are expected to turn it back on for the fans at the airport? Again, i understand this is what they sign up for with Husker Nation, but it is a lot to be “on” for that long even without the actual physical aspect of playing volleyball, especially when you are on your way home and most likely just ready to be DONE for a few days. Oh, and don’t forget that during that week they also had to get their school work done if they weren’t able to complete it early. If you had the behind the scenes look I did this weekend, you wouldn’t be questioning any of these kids. 🤷🏼♀️ Really good post, thanks for sharing. The fans do expect an awful lot of these young women, and asking for autographs and pictures right after a devastating loss strikes me as over the line. Maybe if you have a young girl who hasn't had a chance before and has been waiting I could see pushing it, but if you're an adult who wants a selfie with a player (or some such), that seems a bit much.

What exactly did she do that you felt is ‘bad’ behavior? What were the words exactly?” Welcome to the team that can actually win championships” that comment is low class. I think the saddest thing is Nebraska nation was not only really great to Caffeybut they were also really great to Whitney. Both have been very public and their dislike of both John Cook in the Nebraska program. But yet you think they should be coddled despite their comments and somehow protected despite their behavior. Sorry, I think like every other high profile athlete they need to learn to live with their remarks. That’s called growing up and life. How about we ignore them. It's attention they want IMO. Let them get it the hard way, with their play, not their social media posts.

But if fans didn’t ask for autographs or pictures after a loss, that would make them look like “fair weather” fans, and that’s not the Nebraska fanbase style. People love this team whether they win or lose. Also consider that some of the people asking the players for autographs weren’t even affiliated with Husker volleyball, like players from various club programs across the country.

Can someone PLEASE do some digging and come up with the numbers of: How many players have transferred out of Nebraska the last 5ish seasons, and how many have transferred in. And then do the same thing for Texas. I am dying to know and don't think I am smart enough to figure that out. Lol.
