John Cook updates Murray's status on the team: Nebraska volleyball's Harper Murray will be available to play for the Huskers as they start their 2024-25 season and will no longer be suspended after her offseason legal troubles. “Harper has been proactive in taking steps to take responsibility for her mistakes,” coach John Cook said in a statement to the Journal Star. “This summer she has demonstrated through her commitment to community service and through her involvement in helping lead our youth camps that she is ready and willing to learn from this. Harper and her teammates are looking forward to our first practice on Aug. 5 and to playing in the AVCA First Serve Showcase." The only unfortunate part of this article is that practices start August 5. Still feel like the sport deserves more. You think it should be sooner? August 5th to December 22nd is already as long as it’s ever been.

I’m curious how the coaches/players would feel about more than three full weeks between the start of fall camp and their first match. At some point training and scrimmaging is only so helpful. Additionally, Dream Camp and team camps go on until at least this week. Camps are a significant source of income for those associated with the program. Adding a week would appear to be the most they could without adjusting the whole summer schedule. Would be a great call in question for Cook. “If you could start whenever you wanted, when would it be?”

Cook has also bemoaned the short (in his opinion) time between the start of fall practices and the start of the season. I think he'd like another week to give them closer to a month of workouts before the first match.

If that were the same for volleyball, they'd start Saturday and have to reshuffle the summer calendar. Not something I think Cook would balk at.

I was just a hair slow getting tix for the Red-White scrimmage and ended up with SRO. I looked at Seat Geek for better options and they're like three figures/seat. Any other options I could consider?

If you've already tried the primary and secondary markets, you'll just have to try the tertiary market (someone dying).

So, you are suggesting one way to get tickets is to find a season ticket holder and pull a "Tanya Harding" on them? I like it.

I like it. to not put up a Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding gif would be shameful right now. I have no clue how though.

The new roster limit of 105 means the Huskers will probably have to cut 45 players and it could end the walkon program.

Do we need 32 defensive backs? No, but it’s an experience I wouldn’t deny anyone. At least it will be a one time cut. I really hope there is a rolling 365 roster count or some mechanism that prevents teams from over signing and having a cut day yearly.

I suppose there will have to be a definition of what roster means. Could Nebraska create a practice squad of its non-scholarship walk-ins that wouldn’t qualify as being on the roster? No idea.
