Andi plays both colors, and Skylar gets to/ has to play opp so the other 3 outsides can focus on their usual position. Oh, and Nebraska wins. Anyone else interested to potentially see Sky on the oppo slot? That would make sense. Looking ahead to next year, Pierce can either stay at OH and compete with Landfair and Murray for a starting spot (not likely that she will beat out either of them IMO), or she can move to the right side and compete with a true freshman for a starting spot. Seems to me that her odds of seeing court time next year are much higher if she moves to the right side.

I assume you mean for the scrimmage, so they have the four outsides in natural positions? Still leaves the question of who is next in depth for oppo Yes for the scrimmage. If Beason were injured, I think either Krause or Landfair would move to OPP, not Skylar. Next Year: expect a tranfer at OPP.

Next Year: expect a tranfer at OPP. if I I’m remembering correctly, there’s a Kicking Back with the Cooks somewhere where Cook mentions promising Lindsay he won’t move her around so much, so I’d wonder if that’ll play into it. Otoh, considering Taylor’s goal is to continue playing after college I wonder if she will reconsider potentially playing on the right side given her previous passing woes? Anyone who knows more about international, could she be an elite outside at that level?

Whitney Lauenstein will still be playing next year. Maybe Cook can convince her to come back for her final year? .... I'm kidding, of course. All kidding aside, Nebraska should expect significant drop-off from the opposite position in 2025 unless we can convince Babcock or Kennedy Martin to transfer.

Big time! ABC for Sept 22 match vs the Ville. I'm liking this. Between ESPN2, ABC and ACC Network (SMU) it doesn't look like I will be needing ESPN+ at least until tournament time.

Agree that NE will not be as strong at OPP in 24 vs 25. The need for backup at OPP depends a lot on how Ryan Hunter is recovering from her injury. Have to wait until after the 24 season to evaluate what the transfer portal may provide.

Maybe the burnt orange in the press conference the other day opened his mind up to it more.

The Caroline Jurevicius transfer has left the Huskers in a situation where they will have to start a Freshman next year or go to the portal for another player. One thing the portal hasn't changed is that there is still time to joke about Texas.

Lauenstein is currently listed as an OH on the TX roster. Is her possible preference to play OH over OPP, part of the conflict she had with Coach Cook? Just pondering. She does seem more suited to play OH IMO, but NE needed her at OPP. Again IMO, Beason > Lauenstein at OPP and as team leader. So her transfer was likely a win-win situation for her and NE. Although, she faces fierce competition to get playing time at TX. Be interesting to see which TX players get playing time at OH, with Skinner obviously a lock on starting. Be a big rivalry match if NE & TX play each other in 24 for multiple reasons.

Maybe the burnt orange in the press conference the other day opened his mind up to it more. Coach Cook has stated in multiple interviews/podcasts that he doesn't like the portal, but he realizes it is here to stay and any good coach has to utilize all the tools at his/her disposal to assemble the best team possible. He has said he prefers high school recruits because he likes the fact that he can build a relationship with those players that lasts for 6 or 7 years, whereas portal players may only be at the school for a single year, which feels more transactional in nature. I understand where he is coming from, and I think his point of view is valid. From a Big Ten perspective, I bet that the coaches at places like Northwestern, Michigan, and Michigan State also hate the portal because they keep losing all their best players to the higher ranked programs in the conference.

At the OH position she is competing against Skinner and Wenaas and a couple other freshmen and sophomores. At the OPP position she would be competing against Reagan Rutherford. Good luck with that. The only way she cracks the starting lineup is if Texas undergoes a rash of serious injuries.

If she can get back to where she was at the bare minimum, she definitely has potential to take Jenna’s starting spot in my honest opinion.
