People are nuts!! Had purchased two tickets for the red/white scrimmage but am now not able to go. Put them on SeatGeek at the price suggested by them and made a profit of $307. $300+ to watch an intersquad scrimmage? That is just CRAZINESS!! That is wild. Where else could this happen? Someone should do a documentary about this program and fanbase. 😜

When THIS is your program, going six years without a national championship is underachieving, right?

I know politix isn’t allowed here, but Lincoln’s mayor LGB was at the DNC last night and gave a kind shoutout to Husker Nation during the roll call of delegates (⏩ to 33:07 in the vidya): Meanwhile, Wisconsin’s governor proved to be illiterate and forgetful of the party’s nominee (⏩ to 01:07:20). Oh know: where’s “Holiday” ?

A nugget on Cook that’s not in this story: Nebraska plans to play a regular-season match in 2025 at the 15,500-seat Pinnacle Bank Arena.
“I’ve always thought if I’m going to do this,” he said. “I’m going to try to push the envelope.”
Cook arranged in the spring of 2024 to stage an exhibition volleyball event in the 4,600-seat South Point Arena in Las Vegas — involving Nebraska, Illinois, USC and UCLA.
Nebraska fans alone would have likely filled the venue. But the NCAA denied the request by the Huskers and the Illini to travel outside of the allowed 400-mile radius for a spring competition.

I have been wanting PBA matches for some time. After all if they were able to attract 13K+ to pre-remodeled Devaney in the mid 2000's and earlier. They should be able to sell out PBA now.

A journalist told me last night at dinner that Cook didn’t want to play at PBA bc of a loss of HCA, which doesn’t make much sense now that I think about it. I wonder what changed?

It had to be Louisville and Wisconsin playing matches in large arenas'. Or the fact that we sold out the football stadium for a volleyball match next year, proving that we could sell out PBA.

Before Wisconsin or Louisville played matches in arenas, Nebraska-Creighton had been doing it for many years. I do think that the Volleyball Day in Nebraska and sold-out Red-White scrimmages removed any doubt that Husker fans will fill any size arena and remain just as loud and supportive.

In the past Cook has shown a reluctance to play in PBA because of Basketball. This year for example Creighton and Stanford would have been opportunities for matches while avoiding conflicts with Basketball.

As others have pointed out, several other programs have played Arena matches. There's nothing new and special in the grander volleyball scheme. Sure, more people getting to see the Huskers isn't a bad thing but Cook wants to 'push the envelope'. He tried to get a better venue for the SMU match but sadly that didn't come to fruition. Edit: after watching the full press conference... it's pretty easy to see he's not thrilled about playing at PBA. I'm even more convinced this is the department telling him as opposed to him wanting it.
