I’m a big fan of former Arizona Libero Joy Galles. She will own the Libero position this season and make Iowa better. Super solid passer, defender and great leader. Sounds like, just what Iowa needed.

Sounds like, just what Iowa needed. Absolutely agree with all of this. Wish we had her for more than just this one season as a Hawkeye! Replacing her in 2025 and beyond is the concern we've been referencing here. Looking forward to watching her anchor our back row this fall!

Galles is a great Libero but she will have a freshmen really challenge her for the starting spot. Marquette is that good.

I'm still debating on whether to get tickets. Not sure I can sit through another 0-4 win conference season. It's hard to watch at times.

I can only make around half the matches but I’m still getting the season tickets. I really liked the new players added this spring and look forward to seeing Garcia, the lefty join as well. 2 years ago they played really hard, competitive VB all season and finished beating both Michigan schools. I think they will be back to competing hard every match now they have more healthy, reliable players.

I have some optimistic considering some of the new adds this year and expecting some increased competition from returning players. There might be some surprises this year. One can hope. Let's see who steps up or stands out.

Let's see who steps up or stands out. So many question marks for sure. With so many new players (and some new faces on coaching staff), will be quite a task for the staff to be identifying standouts in incredibly quick fashion and to also play around with who fits best where. As daunting as a task as that is, I hope it will also be kinda invigorating, because I do agree there is room for optimism, given some of the new talent added combined with some returners who find themselves with the opportunity to be pushed towards improvement and increased leadership. I will go out on a limb here for purposes of conversation in this "down time" of summer and tell you that the two fall newcomers I am most excited about are Garcia and Marquardt (not including those who came in spring, for purposes of this conversation but excited about Ammeraal in particular in that group). And to me the overall "sleepers" on this team (now I'm including all on fall roster) I think could emerge as standouts/have potental for big steps forward this fall are Phills, Deery and Vesty. Complete unkown to me is Stojanovic. Hope she impresses with the skills she brings the Hawks in the middle, especially a desperately-needed blocking presence. Go Hawks!

Sounds like, just what Iowa needed. Joy is solid but more of a DS than libero. Could have been the coaching at AZ but just my two cents.

I know this was mentioned earlier, but would be great if the roster was updated on the site soon.
