The name of the tournament is actually "Division I NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship". I know. How many other programs use that phrasing to refer to tournament appearances? Does it matter? The name is the name.

It matters for clarity, but a close review of the press release is probably the least of their problems. I'm sure WSU realizes they're already screwed with her departure, among all their other problems.

“The athletic director, Wren Baker, just wouldn’t take no for an answer,” Greeny said. “I think that shows their commitment to building a quality program and competing in the Big 12 Conference.” That sounds to me like they threw a lot of money at all that she couldn't say No Good for her.

How tragic to have to leave your alma mater like that in order to remain competitive on the national scene. Really a shame. Best of luck to her though.

Savvy self-preservation. That's how bad the Northwestern job is: people like her would rather go to West Virginia. or its somewhere easier to bring in intl students and to collect a nice check before an SEC gig opens up lol Yeah, I think that's what this is about. She maintains a P4 position until something better comes along. Or maybe she really decides that she wants to be in West Virginia (unlikely but who knows). Her recruiting style (read: heavy on international players) is exactly the kind of thing that program needs.

wonder if Ung and Ryan follow her. 2,400 mile drive by car, Pullman to Morgantown. About 4 days if you don't want to stress yourself.

Coug fans are UPSET in the comments (I don’t blame them) I get it, but both this and Jonathan Smith leaving his alma mater Oregon State for Michigan State are due to the Pac-2 getting relegated. Instead of being upset at the coaches, they should be upset at the poor leadership of the Pac-12 (including their own presidents) that caused this.

Yes, but to do it so last minute with no 2024 recruits and just 4 players left on the roster! Brutal.

I’ve been to Morgantown. It’s really pretty, and it’s not actually that bad of a travel destination - it’s what, a 45-min drive from the Pittsburg airport?
Good on Greeney. The WSU program is on fire. Can’t fault a lady for getting out before it burns down around her.

Hmm. Now I'm wondering if I'd choose Lubbock or Morgantown if I had the choice. Tough call. Lubbock is a MUCH bigger town, like 10x bigger, but Morgantown and environs are MUCH more scenic.

It's referring to "guiding Cougar Volleyball to 8-straight NCAA Championships." ok, thought I was blind….who interprets guiding to winning? The terminology is correct on both accounts, but it can easily be misunderstood.
