A small country(Cuba) producing a much more terminal hitter than a big country like the US I haven’t seen Thompson as of recent so I’ll give you that one Cuba has produced the greatest team to ever play.... lol Ooop- Not too familiar with volleyball before 2012 But that’s even more shocking lol

what point ? Thompson is on the level of many of the opposites you just listed. Just not 2 of the ones you originally complained about not having. You moved the goal posts lol. A small country(Cuba) producing a much more terminal hitter than a big country like the US I haven’t seen Thompson as of recent so I’ll give you that one meh. Vargas had a great summer last year but she has a lot more winning to do and great summers to have to be put up there with Egonu and Boskovic. Plus her injury could limit her ability to do that. We will see. She’s surely playing at a crazy level though. But again the USA has a good opposite right now. She just isn’t an all time great lol which was your complaint

hot take (maybe) but I don't think Hancock and Carlini are playing all that bad this year. i haven't watched every single one of their games but when I did watch them I felt like they just don't have a ton to work with.

Considering how big the US is, it’s wild to me how we don’t have ONE single hitter who bombs away like Vargas, Egonu, Boskovic. One could argue Plummer, but she is not as consistent or terminal as the above mentioned. There's probably a ton of factors that play into this. USAV doesnt train opposites. Basketball steals some of our best athletes. Imagine if they had a 6'5 Elena Delle Donne stick with volleyball and have investment into her athleticism. Volleyball definitely loses a ton of talent to basketball in the US but the depth is still considerable. I agree USAV and I'd say NCAA are not training elite OPP. It's more like shove the tall girl that isn't mobile on the right and sub her out in the backrow. USA doesn't seem to have a lot of really physical players for OPP. There's no generational OPPs like Egonu, Boskovic and Haak. But no physical talent like Vargas, Ebrar, Stysiak, Akimova. I do hope Babcock will develop. Maybe Martin could be good.

Kennedy has a high ceiling (imo) just due to her physical attributes. Hopefully she can stay healthy.

Physical Talent: Kipp, Fields and future Babcock/Martin. I hoping with some time one of these can make a big splash.

Oyy

My question is why would the league/team owners allow them to not fulfill their contract? I wonder if this was mentioned within that? Doesn’t the international leagues championships extend into VNL usually too and those players stay? no. leagues arent even allowed to compete during international periods. PR has, but they had to get exemption. PVF has stated they wont keep players from NT duty (Which im not 100% sure they even have a choice, but i dont know the rules about that) It's the league's problem since they chose to extend into NT season
In theory National Team duty requires a club release a player.
In practice sometimes clubs will lean on players to not leave for NT duty, but in my experience this happens more for stuff like U-23s and/or if the player is not a serious candidate for an NT roster and feels like they are only being invited to fill out a training camp or something.
Also different from country to country. I can't imagine any American pro league is going to try to be anything but accommodating to the WNT, especially while they are just getting off the ground.

What newbies will we see in the gym for VNL? Kendall Kipp, Will Simone Lee or Logan Eggleston make the "C" roster? What are your thoughts?
