Spring game 4/20 vs PSU: Beavs 8 players present: 16-25. Modified lineup with one MB. White libero. Light, Rumel, Hester OH-all around. Hester hid in serve receive. Schraeder MB. Burns setter. Coba serving sub for White. Struggling with ball control and passing. Setting placement struggles too. PSU played their experienced A lineup. 25-14. White libero. Light, Hester OH-all around. Hester hid in serve receive. Schraeder, Rumel MB. Burns setter. Diraz-OPP/Coba DS. Better ball control. Rumel very effective at MB. Hester powerful in OPP. PSU played some different players. Setting changes hurt them. 25-19. Same lineup as 2nd set. White libero. Light, Hester OH-all around. Hester hid in serve receive. Schraeder, Rumel MB. Burns setter. Diraz-OPP/Coba DS. PSU returned to their A lineup, but with Coba in digging more balls, PSU struggled to stop our hitters. 15-9. White libero. Light, Hester OH-all around. Hester hid in serve receive. Schraeder, Rumel MB. Burns setter. Diraz-OPP/Coba DS. Excellent recap, already 100 times better than I would have done! Sounds like the only player on the current "roster" that was not playing was Yasemin Narlioglu. Thanks. She might have been on the bench not dressed. Not sure. They had several girls, volunteers, etc there, but Im not sure what she looks like exactly.

Amanda Burns got injured during the first game they played today, before we got there. Team called it for the day as she's really the only setter they have right now. 😔

Match report 5/11:
OSU s UW:
Graduated setter played. Burns setter in boot. No Diraz, and no longer on roster.
29-27. Yasemin Narlioglu libero. Light, Hester, Rumel OH-all around. Hester hid in serve receive. Schraeder-MB. White DS for Schraeder. Coba serve for libero.
25-19. Same lineup as 1st set. Strong serving. Had a strong come back after being down about 4 at one point.
15-13. Same lineup. Good defense.
Vs UO:
16-25. Modified lineup with one MB. White libero. Light, Rumel-OH. Hester OPP/hid in serve receive, Schraeder MB/Narlioglu-DS. Graduate setter. Didn't play bad. Were just overpowered and Ducks dug well.
7-12. Same as 1st.
I had to leave at that point. I doubt Beavers see any team as tall and aggressive in their conference this year, so it was a good test.

Man... we got there at completely the wrong time (12:45)... We didn't even get to see any Beavs practicing or playing since we wouldn't have been able to stay till nearly 3 for the last game. That explains why it looked like Schuster was there with the team (filled in for the setter). Looks like Burns' injury is with her ankle/foot.

I was told by someone that the Beavs ended up losing set 2 to the Ducks, but came back and won set 3. Will be interesting what freshmen coming in will be in the starting lineup. All these spring game players will start, but a freshman MB or OH will also need to.

Doga Diraz OP is in the portal... I sort of figured this was going to happen when she wasn't on the roster but she was still working out with the team. http://instagram.com/p/C7SFRBlvkxN

She is currently playing for Japan in the U20 Asian Championship as substitute OPP. That's great. Sounds like she is at a solid level to challenge for a starting spot in 2025.

Adding a graduate middle. Video play shows a solid level. Probably a good idea as a freshman OH or MB might not be ready to start, and this way Rumel could start at OH.

Another setter added for 2024. Probably needed to have depth. But quick turnaround. Be surprised if she played this year unless we lose Burns as the main setter.
