They really need a bigger arena. It’s impossible to get a ticket to watch them play. I tried paying big bucks when the badgers visited Holloway, but nobody was selling. At some point it’s a revenue issue. 2500/match isn’t gonna do it. Shondell has recruited and built the program to the point that they could easily draw 7000. Purdue needs to step up and support this program as the support for the sport explodes around them. It’s sad that in such a hotbed for volleyball neither Indiana or Purdue have playing venues that are B1G worthy. 🏐

Anyone want to take a guess at a starting lineup for 2024? I don't see the lineup changing much considering 99% of the offense returns (quoting Dave's post on X). Here's my prediction: OH: Hudson, Chicoine (Will be one of the strongest duos in the Big Ten next year) OPP: Heaney (I feel like her ceiling is higher than Wollard's) MB: Colvin, Myers (Can Carr improve enough this off-season to pass Myers?) S: Anderson (Ready for her to run the show without a questionable Poulter sub) L: Hornung (I'm still not sold on Hornung, but I hope she proves me wrong) DS: Kane (Biggest question area of concern right here. Will Kane hold off McAleer in her first collegiate season? Does Foster switch to becoming a full time DS? After watching the Indiana All-Star game, I don't see her hitting anytime soon, especially with Tindall coming in next season.) I want to attempt making a depth chart sometime before the spring season begins. Seeing other people's rankings of players in their positions would be a fun read.

McAleer is getting that bro jersey before the season is over. Mark my words

I don’t think they get 7000 but 4-5000. Basically doubling their current crowd. But I think they like the noise and packed house more than pushing for a bigger venue.

As much as I want to agree with this sentiment, I don't think Purdue should get a bigger arena to make room for more Badger and Husker fans. Any capacity upgrade they make, they should have an eye on selling out for every conference game - if not now, within 5 years of increasing the capacity. Especially since that wouldn't involve expanding Hollowell, it would involve building.

It’s not meant to be funny. I’ve not been to Maryland, Rutgers, or Oregon; but Ohio State and Purdue are best places to watch Big Ten volleyball. No bad seats in the buildings. You walk in on the main level and you are standing next to Big Ten athletes. Indiana is not bad either. Some places will not allow you on floor level. Again, just funny…. It’s like a starving person who is asked what their favorite food is as they are standing next to a McDonalds…, and they reply, “McDonald’s has the best food….” just, OK….👌 You appear enthralled with being able to being able to walk in to a venue, see the athletes in front of small crowds… Purdue has a great place to play volleyball, it’s called Mackey Arena, too bad they play in that boxy community center, Holloway Gym, which is nothing more than a high school gymnasium-with a smaller capacity-occupied by fans who rarely know when and when not to cheer. Covelli isn’t much better, except that it’s capacity is a little more but there are always tickets available, frequently have a early exiting crowd and students who believe their only purpose is to hurl vile insults at the opposing servers. They may be more impactful if they were a better team. I’m surprised you didn’t include Michigan’s wonderful 😏 middle school venue, Cliff Keen Arena- most matches you can just walk up, buy a ticket and sit where you want. Huff Hall is a better venue to see a volleyball match, even though the building is old, but the student section is creative and the crowd generally knows what and when to get involved. And Rec Hall is a better to watch any event because the fans for volleyball and wrestling know how to cheer. And Wisconsin is better because they have loud engaging fans. Don’t really appreciate their adolescent behavior before and after matches, but to see matches at the Field House is great. But the best place to see a vb match in the country is at the Devaney Center. It’s always sold out, the fans are husker fans to be sure, but they appreciate great volleyball and their students don’t harass and slander the opponent’s players or fans-and a place Russ Rose certainly enjoyed as his match night ritual was to sit in the first row of fan seating, a hour or so before the match, and talk to any and all random fan who would stop by. And there is not a bad seat in the house, although if you were at the Wisconsin match last fall, having one of the standing room only tickets may not have been premium. Again, singling out Holloway or Covelli as the best places to watch a B1G vb match just makes me burst out laughing. Maybe they are your favorite places, but then some people do like McDonald’s… sorry 🏐

Re the WI Purdue match at Lake Central, I thought I saw a post, but now can't find it, that a previous game at that location had a huge crowd. I'm just wondering about a likelihood of the thing selling out. I know WI spring matches at WI high schools that had tickets sold out super fast.
