Croatia has released an incomplete roster that will begin training on the 22nd. Setters: Lea Deak, Karla Antunovic OH: Josipa Markovic, Leonarda Grabic, Ana Burilovic (Colorado), Diana Karatovic, Mara Stiglic (will be at Utah State in the fall) OPP: Mika Grbavica, Nina Strize, Andrea Mihaljevic MB: Martina Samadan, Bozana Butigan, Ema Strunjak, Mirta Freund, Viktoria Ana Trcol L: Izabela Stimac, Matea Smoljan I'm hoping we see some more names and this isn't the entire list because that OH pool is weak. It's weird to me that Pavicic isn't on this initial list since several of her club teammates are. Maybe she's not on it because she's older, but she should 100% be on the NT roster. I'm also hoping to see Mlinar, Cvetnic, and Jaksetic added to the roster soon. I'm happy to see Grbavica back though after a really bad injury. Puerto Rico is hosting this summers NORCECA Final Four in June.
Isnt VNL getting rid of challenger teams? I wonder why this event is continuing... unless its to rival CEV teams that get Golden/Silver league points.

I wonder if this is going to be Europe's year to claim more than one olympic medal or will the USA and Brazil get the ever repeating gold medal rematch?
I have to think that Serbia, Italy and Turkey will all be in the conversation for lots of hardware this summer.
It all comes down to rosters.
Italy is intriguing because Velasco is now in charge of the program instead of Mazzanti.

I kind of need to see this roster at some point for Italy this summer:
S: Orro, Bosio
OH: Pietrini, Bosetti, Sylla, ?
MB: Fahr, Danesi, Lubian, ?
OPP: Egonu, Antropova
L: DeGennaro, Fersino
Not sure who the 4th OH should be or the 4th middle for the VNL. That 4th middle probably won't make the Olympic roster.
This roster on paper should do well. Thoughts?

Somehow I missed this. That race for their 4 outside hitters is going to be tough. Setter competition will be fun to watch as well. Is Plak in good form? Didn't she play OH for Roma this year in Serie A1 for a bit? I feel like she plays better at opposite and in NT season in general? It's wild to see Djikema still around. She is the Larson of the Dutch squad. All of her peers have either retired all together or are just playing pro. They are currenly in the running for an Olympic berth. I hope they can hold on and qualify for the Olympics later this summer. Is Koslowsky still their coach? |

OPP: Stysiak, Smarzek
MB: Korneluk, Alagierska, Jurczyk, ?
L: Stenzel, Maj-Erwardt
I mean, that's a decently strong roster IMO.
