Can you even define it as poaching? lol. It's not like anyone (afaik) signed multi-year deals (But they were/are? aggressively pursuing some PVF players) Yeah it’s a weird term to use when the norm in pro volleyball is to move around nonstop.

With all of the big signings and poaching players from PVF… How is LOVB going to foot the bill? I’ve heard rumblings that they have yet to secure enough financial backing. Does anyone else have any insight into this? Im hearing that they were extremely aggressive with their outreach to PVF players during the season , but very vague on details other than in increased pay. There are some NBA players investing I believe which helps, too. Jayson Tatum is one, and his contract in the NBA is worth more than $160M. $32.6M per year. We need more of those guys to invest. Tatum and Kevin Durant are investors, as are Candace Parker, Billie Jean King, Lindsey Vonn, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, etc. Plus VC types.

The figures that have been reported are $16M in series A funding and $35M in series B funding--which are not insignificant amounts (or significantly different from what you said). The LOVB model is certainly different from an NBA model, or other familiar sports models, so I wouldn't put a lot of significance into the celebrity nature of the investors, athletes included.

I was under the impression pvf was offering more money currently? The best players in pvf who are making the most money seem closer to the average level of talent signed to lovb right now imo. Is lovb gonna pay a player like chausse or anae 100k or more? I wish but I feel like the answer would be no

At the time of the Series B in September, they said they had nearly $60 million, so they must have some investments outside of those two rounds, which add up to $51 million. As for the investors, I wasn't necessarily putting a lot of significance on them per se. I was responding to the suggestion that more NBA investors were needed. I just thought that they might be interested in knowing who some of the reported investors are.

How much of the money lovb raised has gone to the pro league versus to the acquisition of like 50 clubs? I imagine they’re able to borrow off the cash flow from club operations, but they are claiming to keep those sides separate (at least for now)

Which answers your question… yes, LOVB is offering more than PVF, which is why PVF turned around with their press release of “$175k.”

But they were also offering low end salaries that were less than the $60k minimum of the PVF. So I think we're likely to end up with some weird system where LOVB has Tier A and Tier D athletes while PVF has Tier B and Tier C athletes.

I feel like majority of the ones signed right now wouldn't be doing it for 30k - there is a few ive never heard of like loda and rivero

She played in Italy A1 for ten years but the past couple seasons she was in Turkey at Aydin (this year with Carlini.)
